I was pondering on a larger power plant in my Xzess II Evo and was thinking a 8xl would be a good motor. This was an older set up which I ran on 8L which ran in the low 50's now I am looking to get some more speed out of this hull somewhere in the mid 60's I was hoping to achieve those speeds on an 8xl on 4s or do I need to go to 7xl? Also any info on others Xzess II Evo set ups and any prop suggestions would be great.

Here is a video of my SAW setup Xzess 2. Top speed so far (gps) is 75.1 mph on a 3s lipo
Setup is Neu 1515 0.5Y, 3s lipo, Hydra 240 lv, X442 prop
The hull has been modified as you can see in the pictures below

In the picture of andym's old Xzess 2 you can see how the rear CF boom has been cut and glued in place so that the battery can go further forward. At speed around 60 mph these hulls start to blow over. From my experience it is the removal of the winglets (as in the pictures of the white boat) that makes the biggest difference to the blow over problem. I have never had mine blow over since I removed the winglets.

The picture below shows how andym glued plastic spoilers to the front winglets and that did help to stop the blow over probloem too.

The Feigao 8xl motor would be a good next step for you. I have run down to 6xl but I would not recommend that for anything but SAW type runs.
Another guy who will help you is egneg on this forum. He has one and I think may be running an 8xl in that.
Give me a shout if I can be of any further help.Several boats in various stages of destructionComment

2 great minds. I just posted mine to see you were on the job Chuck and your video shows the blow over problem perfectly. At 75 mph mine is glued to the water now and I really think it is the removal of the winglets that made the big difference. I am moving my batteries further back now. As you know I purchased Andy's old yellow one and I do think his spoiler idea works to some extent.

Ahaa. I have removed all lead from the nose of mine now. I wish H&M would do a version of the boat without the winglets and maybe some ride pads on the sponsons. On reflection the Mr Krabs needed ride pads. My yellow BBY rigger has them and is almost as fast as my BBY SAW rigger.Several boats in various stages of destructionComment

I agree, they are ugly but as we know after 55 mph all boats look good. I will be very interested to hear about the JAE. I would like to build one for my 1515 0.5Y and a 3s lipo. I have also downloaded the plans of a big JAE and may build one to suit that 400/500 amp MGM esc. You can run the biggest motors on that esc. Dr W and I are planning to do something devilish with that big brick.Several boats in various stages of destructionComment

Thankyou for the quick reply there is some great ideas here. I would really like to see H&M design a larger rigger like 40 plus inches a hull that would handle some of the larger motors out there like the 3060I also collect vintage rc buggies here is my blog http://acmracing-vintagerc.blogspot.com/Comment
