Supervee 1.1 build (outrunner and 6s)

    Supervee 1.1 build

I had this slightly damaged old SV27 hull sitting on my shed(2-3 years) and was going to throw it away...

-but then I ordered some stuff from Hobbyking and thought that what´s another 50 $... -So motor and esc found their way to the cart.

    ESC http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=15133
    MOTOR http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11181

I also removed everything from the hull and layed a layer of fiberglass to reinforce it more(it allready had a layer or two added few years a go). Then I installed a watercooled motor mount, very light aluminium aeromarine servo mount and smaller stuffing tube(so no teflon here)

The motor was moved back and the flex shaft is glued to prop shaft (drying now)

Also , a proper strut and rudder was installed.

(trim tabs and l&r turnfins will arrive next week)

The fun part is this... -esc is 2-7s and motor 2-6s so I plan of building this for friends to try rc boat for their first time and I can plug 2s for them. And when I want to bash the sh** out od this I can use 2x 3s in series and watch it fly or destroying it self

    Pics tomorrow.

Will not work the way you think, if it runs on 6s and you try 2s the esc will fry, if it runs right on 2s it will barely move on 6s. They are two completely different power specs, there is a reason we choose different motors for different voltages.
I have serious doubts about that esc lasting, especially if you try 2s.
You also better have some high C rating batteries if you try 2s, the amp draw will kill the lipos.
Get the hk Turnigy 1800kv 36mm gold motor and a T120 esc, will go about as fast as that hull will handle and not go up in smoke on 4s.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I do get that Amp draw would be more on 2s if large prop is used, but there is so much variables to try that I dont think this will be a problem. I can use tiny prop on 2s and get the Amps low, remember, for first timers to try, -it does not even have to plane.

most driving will be with 3-4s and most likely a s220 or x642 but 6s should not be a problem,m440 or s215. This motor is suppose to be really powerful and good to use on boats and I belive the boat will be fine. and if the Recomended ESC for it is : 2~6S/70A , the 115+A esc should be perfect

But will see what happens later. (SV is not the best(read: it is the worst fe hull I have ever tried) hull so I doubt that it will see much 6s use anyways)

          Great positive thinking there.

If it smokes, so what. If not, thats great.

I dont take things too seriously, I do not like stress so I dont stress .

I also allways video what I build so that will be recorded and documented what the temps are etc... so dont worry about that. May even log the Amp draw if i feel like checking that.

oh, and I have tried many things that most wouldnt try, like when I build the 7xl 6s 29 delta, every1 was sure it would explode but guess what, it went without temp or Amp issues until I crashed and got the esc wet.

The boat still is used weekly by a new owner who only changed the esc . He likes it alot and it works like charm.

Mate, most important is to have fun.

If you have fun doing it with full knowledge of the risk, then do it

            Good luck.

Build is going great, and yes it is all about the fun!

Paint color is this for budget reasons, had a bit of yellow and a bit more red on the shelf. -It is easy to find on the water atleast...

Issues so far: -just the old coupler and flex wobble a bit and wont try 6s until I get these fixed.

Tried short 3s run today and it flipped upside down on the first wave...sv fun is coming back to me...

The stuffing tube leaks bad, installed silicone tubing to both ends and will try again tomorrow.

Still no turn fins or tabs, this hull needs them BAD.

More pics http://kuvablogi.com/blog/4540/63/ (slow 3G connection here at the cabin so no videos yet)

And yes, I cooled the motor first this time to try.
