    Dumas 45 Scarab

Im hoping for some support on this build as it goes, it will probably not start for awhile while i compile parts, but here is my parts list:

    2x Turnigy t600 1400kv outrunners- check
    2x Suppo 200a esc's- check
    1x Turnigy 5a 8-40v BEC
    1x Hitec Y Harness 6"
    2x Zippy Flightmax 5s 40c 5000mah LiPo
    1x Servo mounting standard size-check
    1x Great planes 4-40 Linkage rod-check
    1x Du-Bro E/Z Connectors 4-40
2x OSE Ajustable water cooled mount for 380-540 size motors
1x OSE Water pickup with dual inlets-check
    2x OSE Large 1/4"silicone tubing (3')
4x OSE Aluminum large water outlet
    2x Aeromarine Aluminum bulkhead fitting
    1x Speedmaster dual pickup 1 1/4" rudder assembly w/ 5" setback-check
    2x Speedmaster 3/16 Stinger-check
    2x K&S 7/32" stuffing tube-check
1x Hughey standard .187 flex shaft
1x Hughey reversed .187 flex shaft
2x Large octura 3/16 drive dog
2x Octura Brass Bullet prop nut
    1x Right Propeller?
    1x Left Propeller?
    2x Octura 6mm to .187 collet
    1x Fiberglass cloth medium weight-check

I am hoping for a nice sport boat that will be good for 25-30 and some sized chop. I was thinking about running 2 4-5s packs in parallel (to add mah) per motor, is that enough power for what i am looking for?

I would use the 200amp versions or T180's with those motors, they can pull over 140amps pretty easily. And if you run 6s per motor you could hit 50mph easily depending on your props.

      go with th T-180 esc's.

      use 3/16 flex shafts.

      counter rotating props of course.

These are in my older 45" converted Insane Mono.
used to have a CMB 90 in it.
same boat as my avatar. (nitro powered then)

the HK 200's are, lets just say, not the most liked ESC's in the world.
              The T-180's are great units.

heading out in the morning to run the beast.
We FINALLY got some SUN here in N. VA and
everyone is chomping at the bit to hit the lake.

Would that be worth the extra 100 for the 2 t180s ovet the hk 200's. I guess doing it the right way the first time is the best thing to do.

Yupp, it is kinda hit and miss to get a good 200a. Everyone has been having a lot of luck with the T180's.

Honestly, i have no idea. My uncle picked it up atleast 15 years ago. I believe it has a plastic? hull though. So im not shure what that means. Im almost shure its dumas. It measures out to 48" from transom to the tip of the bow. Nice looking boat you have there. Our 23' seacraft center console is an '84, shes due for a transom and stringer rebuild in the next couple of years

stay away from 'Y' fittings. water will always take the path of least resistance. you may get good water flow on one side and poor on the other. those y fittings should be thrown out imo

don't even try to send it back to HK if something happens to it.

If you look around here on the forum, most people that have sent things back have never seen anything again.
(but there are a FEW that have gotten results)

the money you save up and pay for the T-180's are money very well spent.
also if you do go the T-180 route, save and spend the extra 10 bucks for the programming box for them.
SO MUCH easier to program using it believe me.

                              where are you located at?
