Intruder MK II build.... 100+mph SAW boat

Desided I will build this 38'' H&M MK II just to see how fast I can make it go....I am installing a Swordfish HV240 , 1524 1D 2550kv with 8mm shaft, 6s 2p , FE 30 hardware, .187 cable with 8mm thrust bearings at the motor......First step is to grind a fat seem of epoxie were the upper and lower decks are joined and install a CF transom and add a CF arch to re-enforce were I choped out some room to access my transom...I will be re-enforcing seems were i can and strengthening upper deck were it needs.. Floor seems strong enouph for my CF mount that will bolt to aluminum stringers( 3/8 square aluminum bar epoxied to the floor).....This boat could be for sale when completed......As long as it survives initial testing !

I would suggest going back to the carbon fiber motor mounts...I dont think that styrofoam one will last long!

    Good luck with the build

From a sad experience I can suggest you reinforce the joint between the two halfs... mine ended up like in the pics.

Look here in the middle of the page.

H&M hulls have a bad joint between the two halfs, and often the hull open itself. There is a lot of gel coat but few resin. What a pity!

Yup, just what happened to mine... I wrote them about it and they said this can happen when you flip at high speed... but my pictures where clearly showing bad manufacturing: not enough epoxy on the seam, the FG tape was dry in a few spots.
Excellent hull but very badly made and hostile responses.... so just reinforce everything!!

Thank you very much for the heads up ! One of the reasons I hesitated to build this one is the amount of re-enforcement needed. I just recieved an Aeromarine Team believer cat and I could take it and smash flat this hull with it. The intruder seems like it will handle unlimited amount of speed with proper strut adjustment from studying it.......To re-enforce this one the way it needs will take very small hands and skill ........ I will be doing a test with a piece of the MK and brush on some Rino coat type truck bed protecter to see if brushing this type of product inside would add strength and also to see if epoxie sticks well......Thanks again for the input and feel free to give more !

Your best bet is to just pour some resin (epoxy) in the sponson and just move it around till it gets everything wet. You can either leave it this way or add a 1" strip of fiberglass (just use a loooong brush). It's a 5min job/side.
On the other hand, the hull is super stable, especially with the weight a bit more to the front than usual (I went up to 40% from transom).

Any one know if fiberglass resin is ok to use on H & M's ? I don't think they are fiberglass, more of a epoxie type material......?

H&M uses only epoxy resin, not polyester. In theory it should stick, but I would not reinforce anything with it :p

Epoxy and glass. My H&M hulls have proven to be quite tough in fact.

i would mix up some epoxy resin and cut some strips of cloth once you get the halves glued together just go in with the cloth and resin all the way around the seam and that should make it fairly separation proof unless the epoxy resin doesn't stick to the existing epoxy glass.
too much power not in the FE racing dictionary
