Here's some pics of the inside. I made the stuffing tube mount out of a small sheet of thick aluminum I got at my local hobby shop. A little dremel work with a cutting wheel. I'll put a couple of pics on the next post.
Oh yeah, one last set. These were just too funny to leave out!!! When I bolted the motor in I forgot to put the water cooling tube on the side of the water outlet. The tube bounced through the gears and made some pretty white $10 dust. Lesson learned.
**The gps top speed pic was obviously not attained in the boat
Well done Blake. I love a clean build and yours is spotless. I'd like to see some video if you can post it up. What cells did you run in it & did you ever get a good gps reading?
Thanks for sharing,
Tom G
Thanks Tom. I posted some videos of the first few test sessions on youtube and google video. You can search for Titan 40 and they are the first vids that come up or here's a better idea:
At first I tried 12 gp3300's but to their credit they were old and worn out. Now I'm running 6s1p TPx 5000 lipo's with the cc hydra120. I don't like tempting fate too much so when the new ccHV's come out I'll spring for one of those for the extra headroom.
I did get a gps of 43.5mph just before it blewover. The cg was too far aft and I should have had more negative rudder. Boat, learn, and boat again.
Nice boat man...I've pondered picking up a titan quite often recently.
Any reason you went with a gear drive?...with the lehner 2250, you could easily have gone direct drive and picked up some speed without effecting run time much at all with the right prop. Just a thought...I hadn't seen many people running gear drives in a while...again, nice boat
gotcha...the gear drive will definately give you flexibilities...any plans to convert to direct drive? I'd imagine your set up direct drive has an easy 50+mph potential.
My titan 40 is set up with a NEU 1515 1Y S and a hydra 240 on neu 4s2p.. Runs perfect Hitting speeds in the 50+ mph range depending on the water.... Awsome heat boat.
No plans for a direct drive in this hull right now. Casey, that NEU 1515 1Y is a GREAT motor for this boat, especially for a 2p setup. I've heard this hull tries to turn into an airplane in the mid 50's. You ever had a problem with that?
