    Aeromarine Scorpion Build

This is on my list of builds I ran 36" scorpions in the 90's and set 6-7 Namba nitro SAW records with this Bottom,, the deck was lost in AM fire they had back in the early mid 90's I asked remy Jr what he could come up with as far as a flat deck was concerned,,, because the boat handled amazing with a flat deck and this is what I got. We are very courious how the boat will handle and I am looking for a ESC and lipos for this build ,,, as you might know, I am pretty new to this I will be using a Neu 1527 motor looking for suggestions on ESC and Volts to run it on I figure I want to try 10S what do you think ?? thanks in advance Chris

Chris that thing should haul ass!

Since putting the new ICE 240 ESC's in my fountain I am finding new power and I think it will break 65 MPH if I can just keep it in the water. This is still on the 6017 props. I haven't even tried the 55's yet.

Chris monos that size are great candidates for 6S. We have several in our club between 36" and 40" and most have the same power:

      6S2P/6600 minimum
      Neu 1527/1Y
Castle or Schulze ESC with minimum 8S rating.
      x450 to x455 props

Speeds are in the upper 50s/low 60s depending on how loose the boat runs. That is fast for a heat racer this size. If you want higher speeds, a Neu 1527/1.5D will spin harder and faster, but will cause more heat and have shorter safe run times.

10S could be used if you concentrated on lowering the amp draw and used volts instead of amps to get watts (horsepower). If you wanted 4000 watts/5 hp you could use 6S at 180 amps, or 10S at 110 amps. Used this way the 10S would allow longer run times for the same pack capacity and lower temperatures on everything. If you used 10S just to go faster - generate 5500 watts/7 hp, then you'd need to draw 150 amps. If you want to run SAWs then you'd be competing against 10S boats over 40" which handle the power better. All in all I think you'll be as happy with 6S plus you'd have a good oval race boat.

Yeah I agree 6S minimum. As for ESC, I know they aren't cheap but these new Castle ICE 240's are awsome!! The data logging is incredible. And the amount of power than can flow through them is wild. Night and day difference from the T180's.

In the very late 80's maybe early 90's I ran one of those with a K&B 7.5 marine, that was a fast boat, often looked at those wondering if an uncut hatch could be bought. I'd love to run one again, would have to be black and yellow for nostalgia!
              Was a great nitro boat.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
