So I figured I'd start this now with the warmer weather. A little background how I got to this point....2 years ago I rebuilt the back end of my BJ26, with dual rudders, and removed the turn fins. Thing ran great on an octura X642.

Then, one sad day, as I let some kids play with my rescue boat, I went for a nice straight high speed pass. By the time I realized where the rescue boat was, it was too late. Boat went from whatever speed it was going to a dead stop, accompanied by a nice thud. That's right, smoked the rescue boat at full speed.

The prop was all bent to hell as it chewed it's way through the rescue boat, and the transom split across the whole rear. Kids thought it was their fault, lol.

Anyhoo, so I tore it down, ripped out transom and all internals, pulled the stuffing tube, and now off to design. Here's what I have drawn up so far. I'm using sv27 stingers, the mounting brackets have been machined flat. The transom is getting a carbon fiber plate from the inside, and on the outside. I will also be reinforcing the inside of the hull.

Setup wise.....
ESC: Turnigy 120's or 180's, still deciding
Motors: 2x Turnigy B36-56-04 2600kv
Battery setup: 5000mah 40C lipos. Will start 4s, probably go 6s later
Props: I have 442's and 447's L&R. 442's to start.

That's about it for now. Here's the start of the design. Progress with be slow, as my 4 month old is a proirity, lol.

However, Im not so sure how the Turnigys are going to like 6S. even twin, Id stay w/ 4S. 6S is over 50Krpm, almost 60K. Even 5S I feel is too much for those particular motors.

But kid you not, its going to still fly on 4S.

thanks for the input. I'd actually rather stay wih 4s, simply because I already have the batteries. lol. Don't have to go ordering any new packs, or building 6s out of 2s packs.

I'm familiar with these slow builds. My littlest is now 1-1/2 but still takes a lot of attention. When she was your baby's age I could hardly get anything done. Just pick away at what you can and before you know it it will be done.

Another member on here did a twin blackjack build that ran in the 70's and turned out quite nice. You may want to search for his build...sometimes looking at other people's build will help you come up with things you wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Inside of hull stripped. Still have to sand flat before the layup. Also pulled out the wood on the transom as it was totally cracked. Will be putting a laminated sheet of CF. Stuffing tube is out.


The hairline crack on the inside of the left sponsonis also from the crash. And finally my boat 'registration' number. Vinyl with clear coat on top. My dad and I always wanted to get into boating. KAZ is short for his name, the #'s are DDMMYY of birth and when he died.

Is this something even worth pursuing? Going dual rudder on a dual stinger boat? The props are 47mm for reference, biggest I would ever consider going on there.

Being worth it is up to you. Is it necessary, no.
