It look to be built nicely, did you laser cut it yourself ?
Is is a kit or a known design or your design ?
I am curious about the openings on the sponson tops, will they be closed ?
How long is the tub ?
What will make it go ?

I know I am full of questions, just keen to see what other folk do with small wooden boats.

Simon O, i wish i could say this was all my work but no its from http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddet...od=rcbt0401005 . My idea has allways been try pre bought see how it works then build from what i have learnt, so this bad boy will be powered by a 1880kv 540/3660 Inrunner Brushless Motor and a 120A ESC Speed Controller i have a few lipo batterys that will fit but will start of small and work my way up to see how far i can push this thing.

At 19.5" not really what I would call Mini but that is what it is called, so I'll roll with that.
A 540/3660 is considered a large can and for me quite large for this size of hull.
My choice of motors would be a 3650 which is a S size motor.
At 1880kv you will need a lot of volts to get a suitable shaft speed, 4 cells minimum

Fwiw I have a few riggers and my mid size one that is a lot bigger than what you have there would suit a motor the size you have. The rigger it was developed from ran S(3650mm) motors with a lot of fun.

I am keen to offer advise based on water time. No records held here but some extensive "testing" (burning) of components has been done to get where I am.

          Keen to help

From my findings I can say that it does not make a lot of difference, especially on a straight run, The very clever rigger racers will be able to tell you what is optimal especially for oval racing.
For me I run them wide and turn slow as that is how I have to at the thin end of my favourite pond. I am a solo semi-saw boater so some of my ideas are not applicable for everyone.

what about a e-flite 2000Kv brushless? The 1880kv 540/3660 Inrunner Brushless Motor and a 120A ESC Speed Controller was what the manufacter suggested i run . I have a 1800mah 2cell 7.4v which fits nice and a 7.2 2200mah that will fit snug aswell

On 2S or7.4 a 2000kv or 1880 motor is way too low kv
For 2S you need twice as much Kv ortwice as much voltage for those motors.

My last rigger that was about that size ran a 4400kv on 2S, 5000kv on 2S and a 2950kv on 3S.
Your esc should be fine for all of those setups.

You need to get your revs up

Thanks for the compliment, I just kill trees to make dodgy looking hulls. There are some real clever buggers here and I am only half clever. If you want the best of info then PM some of the real fast guys, that's what I do when I am stuck.

I am keen to help you here with this new hull and with any luck (for you) there will be others who are keen to help too.

If you want a fast boat on 4s i would go for 2300kv - 2500kv so not pushing to extreme but enough. Martin.
