Aeromarine 1/8th scale Miss Bud build

I bought this boat used and it was a nitro boat so I'm going to be doing the conversion. It's going to run a NEU 2215 with a Castle HV240 on 10S. Hoping for mid 60's-70 mph range. Once I have it all set up and running correctly it'll get broken down and repainted.. Not sure on a scheme yet, I may do the old Miss Budweiser theme or something different. Here is a couple of before pics.

And a pick next to my 5T.. It's a pretty big boat

Also took a pic of the motor next to a castle 5700kv I have. The motor is massive! I'm used to the smaller Castle stuff since I also have brushless SC trucks for track stuff.

the inside was a mess so I had to clean up the center section so I can reinforce it with more fiberglass. Also going to mock up the motor mount and need to cut out some spots for the batteries.

    Before

    After

Hope to make some more progress on it this week! If anybody has input or suggestions along the way i'm all ears, this is a first time build me for doing FE stuff. I've always had nitro boats. Thanks

Ok first question... I want to mount the motor as far forward as possible and doing that would leave the flex cable exposed quite a bit before it goes into the stuffing tube. Is it ok to run it this way or will it get damaged? I still need to add the coupler on there and cut down the flex cable so it'll prob loos another inch or so. Look ok to run like this? Thanks

Very nice hull.Looks good.Good job cleaning it up too.I dont think Id paint it-just leave it alone.Your flex has too much exposier. You should move the motor a bit closer to the stuffing tube.I wouldnt leave more than 3/8" flex exposed.Or,you could take the stuffing tube out and make another that is longer.(More work).Id just move the motor and use other parts to get your CG right.

Nice Hull woodster cant wait to see it although once its running you got to put a scale guise on that thing. I know you wont like this but extend the stuffing tube you dont want to move the motor back coz it a consensus that your cg should be 2.5 to maybe 3.5 inches off the front sponsons trailing edges

hmm.... i would probably just get some brass the same size as whats in there, then get another piece of brass the next size up, then just use the correct size to butt it up to the stuffing tube and get the lenth i want, then use the bigger size brass to use as a sleeve to hold them to together. should slide right over the two pieces nice and snug. kinda like making an extention. just my 2 cents

Do you think that'll work ok? Really didn't want to R&R the stuffing tube but I will if it needs it. I wanted to try and keep the motor as far forward as possible.

I was thinking of the same suggestion as dana.............if it were my boat i would do it in a heartbeat.

You need the heavy motor as far forward as you can........... dont fight getting your cg forward any more than you have to.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

Yes dana's idea is solid just cut maybe an inch of tubing that fits the tubes id and join another piece of tubing with the same od as the stuffing box and join them with some silver solder

just be sure to use some sort of a support for the extended stuffing tube... scuff the bottom of the hull well where the support will sit and drizzle some JB weld over the flex and support....

                        ^^^^^^^
Dont forget to support it like J said. Look at other build thread and see what other people are using if you dont fully understand what we are talking about.

Make sure it lines up straight too, it doesnt in the pic.

Personally, if you're modding the stuffing tube, Im not sure why you wouldn't just take the old one out and put a new one it
If you're going to change it, why fool around with splicing it when you can just put a new one in?

I would seal off that exhaust ducting and incorporate it into the hatch. I think it looks cool (more scale).

Looks like the mount is just sitting there so im no so sure it doesnt line up, but a new stuffing box is much cleaner . If you have the full length of brass tubing already on the way might as well rip it out. While youre at it soldering a lube boss on it might not hurt either.Buy the way that particular bud hull is a nice one too Id truly consider redoing that bud guise that gold red and white really shine cant you see it now?
