LOL to party killer, yeah i'm definatley a speed freak but you know this mono handles so incredibly well doing ziz zags at 40+ mph is pretty fun!! Like i said i wont stop untill it breaks 60, i know it can with this setup, its just a matter of propping and running 2p. Definately my biggest concern is the esc i was even thinking if i run 2p its gonna be alot faster, i just know the 1520 is wanting to draw more amps and my batts just cant deliver, with 2p its gonna get that extra boost, i think i'm gonna stay 1p next run andtry the m447 and hook up my watts up meter, at least then i'll get the highest amps recorded, if there within tolerance then 2p will be in store and i'll test that. In the meantime i'm gonna see if i can find some props cheap.........................

Im thinking the m447 will probably be similar to the x445 in terms of amp draw. Do you know how to cup a prop? Some cup on that x445 would help as well (although I still like the idea of a little more pitch).

No i dont know how to cup, actually i'm just starting to sharpen, still have to order a proper balancer i've been using a homemade one that i dont trust, gonna go with the grimracer one from here on my next order, its hard finding any good info on prop work. The 2 blades are simple to balance but never done a 3 and would imagine its a different process??

The x445 i'm using i removed some tongue and sharpened myself.

So i took the boat out today for some more testing..........

first run: m447-139 max amps drawn-53.7mph, temps super low
2nd run: x445-51.3mph, temps super low
3rd run: m447-53.1mph, temps super low on esc and motor, however battery wires were a little warm and again the same battery broke the solder.

Conclusion is the Traxxas connectors GOTTA go!!! wires only read 135f at the hottest, and for whatever reason it seems to be just the one battery that the wires get that hot on, i have 4 batts i'm using 2 at a time in series and the others are all fine. either way i have 8mm bullets on order!! along with an x447/3 and an x645.

I do not have an eagke tree or a graphable power analyzer for that matter all i hav eis the tirnigy watts up meter which will only give me the highest registered amp draw, which in this case was 139, so that being known i would think i am pretty safe to jump to the x447/3 consider the T180 is 180amp continous and 320 burst?? i will definately do a short run with the watts up meter installed when i try it.

recieved my grim racer balancer yesterday along with an x645 and an x447/3, i sharpened and balanced them both, felt i did a real nice job sharpening and perfectly balancing the x645 i started with it and recorded 3 runs all on the same sets of batts, water was pure glass this evening it was georgeous. 1st pass 55.8 2nd 55.3 3rd 54.8 kinda hilarious it dropped by .5 each run as the batts were dying i guess my gps was really accurate tonight. lol temps stayed really cool, didn't even break 90f after all the passes and i definately ran her for a good while.

I switched to new batts and threw on the x447/3 i did not have my watts up metter to check amp draws because i just switched all my batts and esc over to 8mm bullets (thanks keith they are WAY better!) and i forgot to change the connectors on it so only did 3 short passes and brought her in, temps were all still below 85f. The x447/3 was noticeably slower and gps proved it at 44.8. Anybody have any thoughts as to why???

i will be making some parallel connectors tomorrow to try 6s2p on the x645.

yeah Keith mentioned that above, but figured it might be pushing the limits of my esc?? i just bought a bunch more props off a member on here, but no prather, i should have added one to my last order from ose, darnit. What Octura do you figure its closest too?? I do have an x646 coming as well, i also have a grim racer L38x55 lifter prop on the way as well, although i have no clue what that would be like?????

Well i had a very entertaining run yesterday! First ran it with my watt meter/power analyzer installed to get some amp readings, but ended running it too long and de-soldered one of the connections inside the watt meter. after that i ran it some more on those same batts and pulled a top speed of 54.8mph and 53.5mph. After a very short cool down since nothing was all that hot except the batteries (130f) i threw in some fresh batts and started ripping again. I let my brother drive it and he narrowly missed the dock by about 3 feet doing 50mph, kinda scary so i took the controller back. haha I ran it long and hard, in fact too long i was really pushing it, finally the boat died, she would spin prop just a little so i kinda kept burping the throttle untill she got back to the dock. Turned out the motor-esc connectors got hot and de-soldered one of them. fixed it and she seems to be fine.

i'm running 8mm bullets on my batts side of things, and 5.5mm on my motor/esc connection, do you guys think i should swap them for 8mm too or just not run it so long??

I dont know dude, Ive ran 5.5 bullets on my 40" mono that GPSed mid 70's and never had a problem. You have to be either pulling a ton of current, or the soldering was not done well in the first place. Maybe limit your run times a bit?

yeah Keith i think i definately need to limit my run times, never told you i run with my LVC disabled cause it never worked right from the get go with this T180. haha my maximum amp draw cant be more than 150.

i did a approx 7 min run then switched batts and another probably longer than that, so i'm gonna chaulk this one up as my stupidity, but in reality i knew exactly what i was doing i just wanted to really push the limits to see how reliable this setup could be, and i think its very reliable, especially if i were running an LVC, lol. My batts after the first run were 130f!! but at the 8mm connections were a cool 90f the motor case and esc caps were 90f the esc/motor connections were 120f.

BTW, i'd love to know what setup you had in that mono of yours, i have one of those HK Vanquish hull/hardware kits on the way.....................
