    Please help a Newbe

Good morning, gentlemen (and ladies too). My name is Bill and am starting with R/C boating. Since I am retired I seem to have time on my hands until surf fishing starts. Any help/advice you can give me would be appreciated. To start-I have ordered a Aquacraft Mini Rio. Comes with a FM 2 channel radio (which frequency I don't know yet)

Have also ordered two Dumas boat kits--the SkiDaddle 20 and the Ski Daddle Too. Both are about 25-26 inch boats. According to Dumas ( have contacted them) both boats are for gas and they would not give me much help on using electic in them, althought I don,t know why it could'nt be done.

I am not looking for big speed here, but would want them to get up on plane. Would also like to keep cost down to a resonable amount, (although I realize how that goes.)

Would like to use the one transmitter for both boats. Then buy a speed contrll, reciever, and servos for each boat (matching the frequency, of course.)

My thought was to use the Tower Hobby parts store to buy the Aquasport motor, ESC unit, survos and running gear from ither the RIO EP or the Surviver 27R.

Am I correct that the ESC unit it both reciever and speed control??? If not what should I buy.

RIO motor is a 550 size, while the Surviver is a 36-56 1800 brushless (whatever that means.) Which is the best choice for me?

    Also-what about the Aquacraft outboard.???

Thank you in advance for your help--promise to post pics as these projects advance if you promise not to gaffaw too much.

    Bill

For a first boat the Aquacraft Supervee (which is what I think you meant) is a fantastic boat. The gear in it is of quality if you'd like to use it in a build. I'm no too farmiliar with the Daddle.
There are a couple SK Daddle builds here on the boat building thread. I'm sure those guys could help you out a ton.
