1/8 Scale Allison Engine from Eddie Hansen

Eddie Hansen has a new 1/8 scale engine kit out. It is unique in that the engine is all one piece and back filled with foam. If it blows off the boat, no danger of sinking. I was blown away by the quality of the casting. Everything but the air intake, intake manifolds, blowers, and exhausts are in one piece! The quality of the cast is great! No sanding required for the main engine piece. I painted the valve covers with a brush and it flowed out great!

Here are pics of the way the engine comes. ( I haven't received the exhausts yet as Eddie is casting them as we speak!)

A small bit of work was required to remove flashing, etc. from the air intake, intake manifolds and blowers. I painted the intakes with plain ole rattle can red. No primer needed!

Ditto for the air intake and blowers. Rattle can silver.

Next was using a brush to paint the carburetor, etc. silver.

To this point, I have less than 2 hours into the project! Other engines I have build required assembly of a bunch of parts and lots of sanding, filling, primering, etc. This project is a dream!

Next was gluing on the air intake, blowers, and intake manifolds with medium CA.

Here I have placed the engine on my boat go get the correct angle. It was simple to adjust the angle using my belt sander. This is one GREAT engine kit! To this point, less than 3 hours of work went into it and I am very slow! The kit is only $50! Best bargain going if you're building scale. Not sure if Eddie has other engines yet or not.

I will pick up this thread from here once I get the exhausts and add some other scale goodies to the engine!

Thats lookin good Jim, Eddie makes some nice stuff. I use his drivers in a lot of my builds as with his era choices you can always get the right overall look. I'm with TC. Lets see the boat too! Good job.

The boat is really a work in progress at the moment. Maybe in a couple more days I'll get some pics.

I'm at the point of doing details and trim. Gotta let the paint cure for about a minimum of 2 weeks before I clear it or it will wrinkle it! Then I have to reinstall the strut, rudder, etc. and set up an esc and lipo mounts and find and set the CG. Still lots of work to do!

Just got an email from Eddie saying I would have the exhausts this week. I will resume this thread at that point.
