Castle 1717 while still on sale.
OSE water jacket while they are in stock.
180 amp esc while they are in stock.
      Run it on 6s.
Id get away from "spec" stuff and really make that hull move.

The motor in the new Traxxas boat, sailr. Basically an over priced Feigao XL. The 1717 is way too much though. After you put that in the hull with 6s it will be SUPER heavy. If they are still on sale check out the 1518 Neu/Castle. Great 4/5s motors. Tons of power.

How heavy is too heavy? Why ask about a spartan motor when you are planning on a Leopard 2200kv?

The other thing about the 1717... You need a big prop to take full advantage of it's power. Too much prop on a 29" cat will cause big handling issues. The Leopard is a pretty good choice. The 2000 kv motor would be better suited to a 4s cat. BUT, if you can still get the Castle/Neu on sale get one. They are better motors.

i dunno larry, just asking. up until this build ive used nothing but ul-1 motor/esc in all my boats. nobody has ever put the spartan setup in a mean machine just an idea really... ive heard leopard is good for the money so thats whats on my plate now.

the 2200 kv will draw more amps being higher kv. with the 2000kv you can get away with a little more prop, which you'll want. 2600kv is VERY hot for 4s. Really just a SAW setup. I've had quite a few Castle/Neu's and just a few Leo's. The Castle's definately run cooler. The aluminum end plates on the Leo's are too soft for my liking too. The threads strip out quite easily.
