Rich, have you tried 1.6 pitch on yours? X642? You're spinning less rpm but way more torque I think

I think when I gps'd it the strut was buried and I got 48. I should be at least 50 from what I saw today

No I haven't tried a 1.6 pitch. I do have a 1.5 pitch m545 on order. The motor I have does have more torque, its a longer motor with a lower kv. I could go up to 6s2p if I had the packs for it, but I just ordered a pair Sky 40c 5000mah 5s packs so I think I'll stick with that and make the best of it. 51 is plenty fast for me, and with the m545 will push me just a bit faster...

Are you guy's using any strut angle???

I had about 1.5 degrees of up on the prop end, but i have changed it to neutral and haven't had any problems. I did that because I run in some choppy water from time to time.

I've been running a 4074 2150kv motor in my MG29 for quite some time with an X442 prop with no problems. I just recieved my 4082 2200kv Nemesis Gold motor today and plan on strengthening the hull some. All I'm doing is adding the back section of the OSE 80600 motor mount to the existing motor mount as to not have to remove what has done well so far. I will be cutting the fiberglass sections of the motor mounts in half in order to be able to use just the back section of the new motor mount to spread the torque over a larger area. This also will keep the weight of the motor from pulling the screws out of the hull or worse while the boat hits the waves at over 70mph. You can fiberglass the motor mount in-to the hull or do as I plan on doing and simply use a flat pice of 1/4" thick plastic to screw the fiberglass portions of the motor mount into. This creates a solid flat surface which can be superglued into the hull. You must use the gel form of superglue which can adhere to porouse surfaces. This will adhere to the fiberglass. I then plan on shortening the prop shaft about 8mm in order to move the motor back just far enough to fit under the sub hatch. I don't plan on changing the cull as they are so cheap that I have an extra in case it breaks which has happened in blow overs in the past. I don't mind taping the cull but I can see why you may chose to fiberglass it in order to not have to tape it. My mods for the new motor should take only about an hoer to complete and only cost me the price of the $20 motor mount a $2.00 cutting board you can usually get at Goodwill to use for the 1/4" plastic and a little superglue.

Say, Were you able to use your sub hatch with your 4082? Just got my 4082 today to put in my M.G. and moving the motor as far back as I can doesn't seem to allow for the sub hatch to fit. I am able to put the outer cull on just fine and I do always tape it anyway. I just don't like the idea of having nothing between my electronics and the water other than that flimsy lid. Perhaps I can boil the sub hatch to soften it enough to make the bubble a little larger. What did you do?

OOPS! You're right. I guess after reading some of dana's replies and getting used to looking at his avatar of a Mean Machine painted to look like a Miss Geico I forgot this was a Mean Machine thread. Too much multi tasking I guess. Could be that someone reading this thread may also have an MG-29 build going an as well.

I have mine set at 11.25 on the Seaking 180. Look at the bottom of this page: http://www.neumotors.com/Site/FAQs_%26_setup.html

That's nice, but is the motor a 'Y' or 'D' wind? It is a custom motor for Steve, OSE does not list the wind in their advert.

Fluid, I asked Steven for the wind, and he said they didn't give it to him. He suggested a starting point of 7.5

Is there a way to find out the wind by looking at the inside?
