My BJ26 Nitro to electric conversion

I have had 2 complete nitro hulls in my garage for over 2 years now. I loved running the boat in nitro form with an OS .18 in it when we lived in Texas. I would run the boat next to our Yamaha SX 230 jet boat for hours! Then I wrecked both hulls. They split in the front from sponson to sponson. Due to how thin the bottom of the hull is and how crappy the stock canopy is, I had given up on trying to do anything with the boat that ended up in better shape, out of 2 I had.

After joining this forum I saw that Tiqueman was making and selling a very nice hatch for this boat. I bought one them and the bug to finish the boat hit me hard! He was also instrumental in helping me fix the boat the correct way and giving me help on how to add some layers of glass to the hull to strengthen it. Thanks again Scott!

That's an 1800kv motor. I will run it on 4S with a grim 42x55 prop. It will not have battery trays. The side of the batteries will Velcro to the side of the hull, flat on the bottom of the hull. I'll be making the servo mount in the next few days. Running gear is from a BJ26SS. I'm using the Nitro drive cable for right now because the SS cable if out of stock everywhere. Paint will ether be an "Apparition" like theme or a possibly the "Bud Select" theme. I'm hoping to have the boat ready to hit the water by next weekend.....hopefully :P

Nice looking strut...................havent seen a non-steering strut with a u-joint before............guess its for small adjustments.

Make-a-wake, I used that drive cable with the u-joint because the BJ SS cable that I need is out of stock everywhere. That is the drive cable from the nitro boat which will have to do for now.

Got the servo mount installed today and the first layer of white paint too. The boat is looking awesome, IMO. But then again I'm biased

Funny you mention a twin because I was thinking about that last night. A twin BJ26 would be sick! What motors would be suitable? Twin 380 size motors? Maybe 2 Ammo 28-45 2100 kv motors on 4S with 2, 60 amp ESCs? What drive gear would you recommend? I think I might have to get "side tracked" on this project, lol!

380s... hmm, we just ordered the Castle 1800KV 34-24 outrunners, they are 42.5 in diameter, and 52mm long.

Scott, I have 1 of those 34-24 that I planned to run by its self in this boat(see picture above). The motor barely fits in the side of the boat and making a motor fit in there will be tricky. I'm sure it can be done but 380 motors would drop in there much easier.

What singers would one use on this boat? Do you need counter rotating props?

Yeah counter rotating would be the way to go. To keep it easy, any 3/16 stinger, be it ones form OSE, Jeff Wolt (forum member) can mod some w/ ball bearings etc and makum real nice. Or you could get the... Power trim? I think it is??? that come w/ Ball bearings already installed. OR, you can keep it low budget and get the 70mm stingers from Hobby city when they are back in stock, do a 15 minute mod to each to run 3/16 and have less than $30 between both of them, modded.

If you go with the 380 Leopards, im not real sure about them spinning the octura 442's that come in both rotations..........but they make the K series in 40mm.....just a thought
