The 2250 is about 3-5 times the cost of the kb. Keep up the good work!!

The only thing i worry about is the esc. You may be close to your max on it.
Thanks Steven, I agree 110% the esc is at it limit... I can run this 6S lipo setup on the KB 8XL for 2-3 min and the heat is 95-100 on the batteries and 105-115 on the motor.. The esc is 130-145 deg. with NO COOLING!!!

I am going to install a water cooling plate, and a fan on the heat sink.. Just to see if I can get the ESC temps under 120 deg.. I really like this setup and the speed is just right..50-55mph..... Mabey I will try 5S lipo, if I cant get the temps down with the water and fan cooling....
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

That's a very nice Cat you have.
1/8" aluminum tubing will fit between the fins on that ESC's heat sink. I used 4 pieces of tubing on mine and it barely gets warm. After I cut the tubing and laid it in place I put a little shoe goo on top of them to hold them in place. I would still use a fan in the hull, you'll need it to help cool the batteries. I put aluminum tubing on the back of my fan as well, plumbed with the rest of the cooling system, it makes a nice little radiator. I run almost the same set up in my SW cat, a KB 9L on 6S 5000mah and the same ESC.
        I hope this helps.
        Rickster.

          Update...

I made some cooling tubes out of K&S alm.. I cut out 1 fin on each side of the heat sink, installed the two tubes with Permatex Silicon Gasket Sealer... Then I installed the CPU fan on top of the heat sink!!!

I plugged the fan in and she is blowing very nice.

It should be 69deg. and sunny today!! Mabey I will get a chance to test it out...

Took the Drifter out for a run today with the new cooling on the esc!!! She hit 53.7mph, ran for 4+ min.

Temps were lipos 98 deg.... esc 138deg... motor 126 deg..

I think the KB45 8XL is pulling too many amps on 6S lipo for this esc... I think I will just run this set-up on 5S lipo from now on... Just too be safe...

Next, I will order a Neu 1527/1Y and jacket from OSE... I think that will be a great 6S motor!!

I have plenty of esc's!! LOL

I ordered 2 GX200amp esc's to try out... They say 7S max or 30V... I am will try it on this 6S set-up!!

This KB45 motor pulls lots of amps.. The Neu 1527/1Y is only (1250KV) and has a max amp rating of 60amps... Just because it made by Neu, does not mean it will pull more amps than the KB.... The Neu 1527 will have more torque and will be more effiecient than the KB45 by far!! That will allow for less amp draw and less heat with the same prop and batteries.... But with just as much POWER or more than the KB..

I have seen this esc work fine in a 44" Aeromarine Cat w/ a Lehner 2280 on 2x10S1P lipos..... Runs 50's and has only fan cooling! These esc's will handle 100Amps cont. and 2-12lipo...

Until mine "puffs the majic smoke" I am going to keep running the S%*T out of it!!

Any idea why the vid won't play??
Comes up with your title at the begining, and then continues to just say "photobucket" while it loads,,,and then goes back to Replay with the same result !

I need to see boats on the water before I go crazy up here !
