went to our big pond at kahaluu today and had a blast, usually it is all gas boats but today the FE guys took over. there were only 3 of us, me, tunda and ira but it was well worth it. one of the gassers has the rescue boat and that is what keeps us from going there so today i broke out the kayak and it worked just fine (i was the only one who needed it anyway)
here is how it went:
tunda's awards were
61 mph with a chinese 7 wind xl and $50 hi-model esc in a jolly cat
winner of 4 lap heat with his delta 23 against ira's miss geico (needless to say ira is ordering a delta 23" tonight)
i got 59 mph from my hotr cat with a motor that cost less than the prop ($29.99 turnigy) the motor mount cracked before i could prop up.
my lee craft pushed 60 with a castle 1515 1y on a m545
the rico 31 ran 54 with out blowing the esc, need bigger props to test
and my spec rigger looked slow
ira won the "biggest fire" award with his surge crusher
delta cyberstorm copy ran great in the mid 40's on a 8xl and swordfish 120
the mogli and geigo ran good as always right around 40 mph
all in all we had a great time and didnt do much damage (one esc and some JB weld).
just goes to show that the cheap chinese cr@p is holding its own, tunda's boat is over a year old and my hotr has seen its fair share of action. we werent doing saws but runing the normal 2-3 minutes on the oval getting these speeds
