Damn. This is gonna be sweet.I agree with the motor thing though.Weight is weight. My opinion is the ul1 motors will get a little hot fast.

I posted the same to the stilleto thread. Darin switched his teflon to brass tube and says it made a big difference!

I'm not sure even he knows. It looks just as fast as a guy who has a ul-1 motor in his though. According to the videos.

looks to me like the shaft itself is junk with that kink at the square. you gota get ahold of chris flynn on intl waters. he makes good quality. as far as the brass liner the nitro guys only use that on the cheap k&b legs. i run both lawless and os in FE applications and use the teflon liners. they are harder to spin than a straight shot flex because of the bend but it shouldnt be so much you think they are binding. that is what makes the lawless so atractive, it is lesser angle. make sure to lube them every run. i use a 50/50 mix of stp oil treatment and 2 cycle oil (honda hp2 from my gas boat) in a oil can and squirt it in every run. yesterday was the 1st time in about 10 times to the pond (3 runs each trip) i forgot my oil can. sure enough i broke my 1st shaft.... i dont see where these have an oil hole but it is as simple as drilling a hole.
aslo make sure you have extra shafts on hand, outboards are famous for breaking alot of flexshafts.

I dig the idea of twin outboards
could be a sweet build to do a 40"+ cat with twin 1520s on outboards

Got my ul-1 motors today. Also got a pair of hyperformance 3.5 cables that look far superior to the stock ones. Now waiting on a pair of turnigy 120's, ose coolers, a pair of grim 40/57/3 props, and a few other odds and ends!

I've been following this - great idea for a build, and I think this boat will scream with 2 - 4s packs. Those outboards look great too. Looking forward to seeing it come together. Keep up the good work.

Did you ever find your counter rotating shaft? How much does each motor weigh with the UL-1 motors? Can't wait to see this hit the water!

I gave up on the reverse rotation shaft for now. I'm gonna get it all put together and see how it runs with same motor rotation. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to have some shafts custom made. If I do, I'm gonna get a bunch of them made because I know some others who might want them as well. Still waiting on a set of water outlets to mount in the outboard cases. When I get those installed I can put them back together and get a weight measurement.

Let me know if you get some custom ones I wouldn't mind having some for future builds. I have a 40" Ac laser hull that I was thinking about doing dual or maybe triple outboards!

My thinking is that one of the manufacturers is gonna find out there is a real demand for reverse rotation cables and will eventually produce them.

                              Scott,
You can buy reverse rotaton cable from OSE. Get a couple 18" shafts and cut them to the right length segments. Then send them to Dave at Hyperformance to get the ends squared. I'm pretty sure he would square them for you for a reasonable price.

Get some Octura cable, send it to Kris Flynn from IW. The cable is not even $2/ft from Octura, Kris charges $4 ea to cut & form them. He might still have some cable I sent him left over from the 5 sets he made for me.

Really anxious to see how these look on the back of your boat, I've got a similar project in mind!

On a side note, did Thunder Tiger ever release their ep outboard?
