Are Etti Couplers generally a tight fit for the cable?

I am just getting my boat back together and went with an Etti coupler. %mm to .150 and I have to really push the cable in hard. That normal with the Etti. Before I had octura and the cable just slid right in. ????

Cable is not a high tolerance item. It can be anywhere from .145-.150. Then if you solder it, its going to be a bit thicker. I think you are better off a bit of a tight fit. Use some sandpaper wrapped around the end to take it down a bit.

As long as it goes in without damaging the cable it is fine and will be nice and tight. Did you solder the cable end? If so then sand it a bit.

Ok, sounds good. This octura cable I had soldered, but sanded it quite a bit and its still tight. I am going to use a prather cable, but was just using the old octura for setup of the new motor position. When I cut the prather cable I'll try the sand paper idea. Thanks! I forget now, I wana "tin" the cable before cutting it with the dremel right? Neu install is almost complete....

The ETTI is a bit more snug than the Octuras.
