rudder
Is that the smallest one from HOR (67mm) or the larger on which is 87mm? (the one without pickup?) I am running the smallest one they make on my 1/16 scale hydro and it is plenty, but it looks like the bigger one in the picture.
I took the stock rudder off of my twin apparition and put the 87mm HOR rudder on in it's place. Looks much better and went to water cooling pickups in the ride pads.
From the looks, I would tend to go smaller, also due to the size of the mounting bracket.Comment

at work now so cant measure it but the one with no water pickup is like 3 maybe 3 1/2'' long and the other is like 2''...the larger one is nice but i think its to big and the larger base will make it harder to mount on this small transom,,,Comment

well i was going to run my Turnigy 3s 1500,,,but after i get that motor i gess ill have to find some small 2s packs,,maybe trade my new 3s packs for some 2s's..
Think im going to go with the smaller rudder cuz it fits better on the transom and the blade still goes below the hull enough i think it''ll be fine!!!!Comment

Qestion'''' im going to use the small rudder so buy the pics you can see i put only one bolt hole threw that way i can move one bolt hole out or keep it where it is, thats were i like it but its like alittle less then 1/2'' from being lined up with the inside edge of the tunnel is that bad or do i need to move it out lined up ,,, need to no soon so i can move on...Comment

I would mount it left of the inside sponson. You said the tunnel was just over 3", so about 77mm wide? (Yeah, I could go measure one, but that isout in the garage or downstairs). Take away 27mm for the prop and that leaves about 1" per side. So if you mount it 1/2" inboard of the sponson side, that will still give you about 1/2" rudder deflection before you could even hit the prop. Also looks like the prop tips may be behind the rudder?
I would mount it inboard closer to centerline. It will not be in the prop wash as it is next to the prop, just watch clearance on rudder throw.

I have two more of these cats, but this is were I am at on it. The bottom mold is plaster and it is not strong enough as it chips on the hard corners. So, what I want to do is pull a glass hull to make new glass molds. One for vacuum forming so I can try to get a better pull, the other to do a glass layup. Motivation is the problem due to time. I had sold the other hulls, but people backed out of the sales and I held on to them pending how these two, now three builds went.
I also have another cat project in the works, just a smidge bigger. Molds are done, just need to lay some up. Again, time.
Thank you, BrianComment
