I think if some of you guys doubted his claims, a little more tact could have be used. He stated that he was a noob. Instead just jumping on him, I think it would have been more productive to show him the errors in what he was trying to do.
A lot of new guys want the put everything including the kitchen sink into their first builds. They are full of ideas to make theirs faster than everyone else's and they may make claims that may be unrealistic just to get some respect from others in the community. We were all there ourselves. If you doubt his claims, show him the facts or ask questions as to how he arrived at his conclusions. If his calculations are wrong, help him to understand his mistakes. Let's not make this forum a "dogpile on the newbie".
