What to do on a cold, rainy Saturday

I can't fly Helicopters or planes today so I decided to try a new setup in my Phil Thomas SS45. I am hoping to try it out on Monday.

Yep that is a 1717, I got a couple of them to try in my bigger boats. I am running Hyperion 6s2p 5000mah 35c cells. I have no idea what size prop I will start with but I have a feeling this motor will pull a big wheel.

And here I thought all you were doing today was asking me DX8 questions :)

          Nice boat!

              Ray,

I really like the way you have kept every thing so clean inside the hull.

              It looks Awesome my friend.

              Should be very fast.

We will see, the last setup with the same cells, Neu 1527 1.5D and Hydra 180HV ran over 65mph in a Oval setup. That motor was a ESC killer so I am going to try this motor and see if it is any worse
What Iam really hoping for is the same speed but I am hoping the motor won't work as hard to do it.

I have that 1527 1.5D of yours it swings a 457 prop in my Whip 40 on a Castle 240LV. Runs just fine!

Wow you must have a perfectly tuned setup to swing that size prop on that D motor. I never even considered trying a prop that size. What cells are you running in it? Looks like it is flying in the pics.

That 1.5d likes a big prop! Mine ran hotter with a x 648 than it did with a x 455!

LOL, I don't know if its a perfect set up but it works well, those pics are from the FE Nats in Greeley, I took the top spot in Q Sport with it. set up is, Whiplash Sport 40, Neu 1527 1.5D Castle 240LV, detounged X457, Hyperion 45c 4200mah 5s2p.

a word of caution DO NOT run this set up on a short course the temps spike.

Temps were low 100's on the 1/6 mile oval.

I run detounged x 648 on my Whip 20 with a 1521 1.5d 4s1p 6500 mah with no water cooling on the motor, So I figured that big 1527 could swing a BIG prop.
