    Thanks slappy,

I added 120g (2 strips) lead in the flood chamber for the first run - will try to run it on a 3S 5000mAh and hope that it is heavy enough. I have seen in a video that if the boat does not move it nearly sinks on the left side....

I add some pics from my progress until today.

      more lead? or wrong place?

As expected -seems to need more lead for right-up.... though with this big lipo the boat starts to sink slowly when no power is applied....

Any ideas? (smaller lipo, more lead in the flood chamber instead of the big lipo?)
If I need to carry additional weight I´d like to carry this in form of more electricity instead of lead if possible :-)

You can add all the leads that you want: It doesnt work! I'm doing something like that:

This video is old. Now I have a different arrangement. In the next days I'm going to post some new picture.
You can take a look at this forum:

There are some interesting videos and photo.
        Ciao, Franceso
P.S. Sorry for my bad english!

          Hi Francesco,

          thank you for your reply.
I had a look on the italian forum (translated with Iron-Browser ;-)) and have seen that most of the guys there put a "Pool noodle" on the right side of the hull. Ugly to look at but seems to work ;-) I wonder how the russian guys in the video made it run that the boat turns round? Anyway, I will have a close look in the next days at the forum to get a idea how it can work.

I tried to register there but did not receive the confirmation mail (server error 500). Will post my pictures there then also.

          Again, thank you

looking forward to see how we can proceed with our Mono.... :-)

          Kind regards from Vienna,
          Peter

            Another idea for self-righting...

            Hi guys,

following Francescos approach .... what about making a plywood cover for the Arowana and glue a heli-canopy on the top? I think the issue is not to give the boat more floatation but give a higher pivot point when it flips? Of course glue some styropor in the hole...

Another advantage might be that we gain another chamber (for GPS, lightning, whatever you are up to :-)) below this canopy.

Will give it a try and build this when i find the time within this week...

              Hi,
On my tenshock mono1 with a flood chamber I have it set up with just enough weight to get the boat to list perpendicular to the waterline (not to roll all the way over). The strut/prop is still in the water and I can give a blip on the throttle and the hull will then plane over the rest of the way. Not sure if this can work on your hull design but worth a look-- saves a lot of weight...

                @BHChieftain
Hi, the problem with arowana boat is about how to go the boat perpendicular.

                @nordwest
Hi I've tried to write to the russian guy. He told me to send him my e-mail to get the photo about his boat but I'm still waiting (a month ).
The thing is that if you add lot's of leads it will run (and turn) in a very bad way. I've used 180 grams of leads and it was a bad setup.
Your idea about the heli canopy could be good. Keep me informed!
This is my actually setup but I'm still doing some test to reduce the polystyrene red object:

                Ciao, Francesco.

                  Video self-righting without lead

                  Hi,

i made a quick and dirty try today:
                  - cut a plywood cover
                  - apply some styropor
                  - remove all lead (120g)
                  - insert 5000 mAh 3S Lipo
                  - throw it into the bathtube
                  - e vóila - self-righting in around 3 seconds

This will be my base for further enhancements - I agree, it still looks awful but if I make the styro look like a shark fin...

Maybe I still will aply some lead to make the fin a little bit smaller .... depends on how the boat runs on water - did not have the chance till now to make a test run. (where to put the lead then - if necessary?)

First pics from a shark-style cover

Not painted as the Epoxy i used to make the plywood water-resistant isn´dry till today....

The Cover with the frame glued
                    20120112_205341.jpg

5cm Styropor to compare with the 2cm in the back (will try to get it run with the smaller versions either one oo both)
As soon I have found out how many styro I need, i´ll glue the other frame on the cover also to stick the styro between

                    20120112_205411.jpg

                    View from the side

                    20120112_205434.jpg

Could also be an idea - i assume it is not high enough to flip the boat (but maybe i´ll give it a try to cut a higher canopy and glue it on a plywood cover, paint all black and we should be fine

                    20120112_210229.jpg

I don´t have much time at the moment, any useful hint is very appreciated....

Maybe I´ll get some better ideas after i have seen it in water (and maybe the shark-style is unuseable at higher speed.... we will see)
