Depends if you have some lipos kicking around? Then you can pick your motor KV based on that. Unless you're starting right from scratch. Need more information as to what you have first.

i have 4, 5, and 6 S combinations! why 2200 kv on 4s can you not run 2200 kv on 5 and 6S? To be totally honest i do not truly understand the whole concept of matching the amount of voltage to the amount of KV never really been explained to me. thanks

You normally want your unloaded rpm to be between 30,000-40,000 rpms and sometimes more if you want to really push your motors and then the bearings won't last as long. So 2200rpms x 3.7 x 4 = 32560rpm is nice! (kv = rpm/volt)

I had no idea about kv's and voltages when i put my first brushless motor in my old villain i put 6s to a 3000kv motor and the magnet on the motor shaft broke apart!

Make sure you have enough room in the hotr for the motors too, that might be kinda tight. But as long as the fit twin Leopards would be NASTY!@

          Good luck!

Good thought. Length shouldn't be a problem in the cat, but the diameter might. If so the 540 xl motors will also make that rip.

In the HOTR hull, the hatch mount steps come down pretty low. It's tight fitting a 540 motor and will most likely have to cut the hull to fit an aluminum can @ 50mm, at the very least bend it pretty far. Silicone might get away with easier.

Watch your weight in that hull. Feeding twin leopards can take a bit of lipo size. It's what stopped me from doing the twin CC/Neu setup.

Tiqueman did a great twin 540xl setup in the HOTR hull this spring. Good stuff for sure.

              Good luck!

Another option if they don't fit is you could put them next to eachother in the middle of the hull and run two struts to fit the motors in. Kinda like the two middle ones in this...

how would the swordfish 120 ESC's be to use with the 2200 kv leopard on 4s?? I was gonna run turnigy's but they are all back ordered and the swordfish are only about $5 more and they are in stock.

You will get them faster too! I dunno what those would draw amp wise tho? The turnigy 180s or a little lover kv on 6s might be better if you haven't ordered the motors yet. But they will def work!

How does one know what esc you would need for a motor? Is there a formula for that?Guessing seems to be a waste of money.

i would bet a cheap 2 x UL-1 motor/esc combo would make a pretty sound set-up without too much weight...

                            440 to start

                            I'm running 4s w/sword120 2200kv in a hotr hull.
                            It's a good combo but uses quite a bit of juice 4s2p 8k 25-
