Motor/Hardware/Electronics for Micro FE Boats

I am running a Ebay Brushless 2040 Watercooled 2960 kv Motor with a Turnigy 35 A Water Cooled Water Proof ESC powered by Turnigy 2S 25C 1300 mah Li-Po's.

The motor and collet and motor mount can be bought together from one Ebay vendor.

I bought the Octura 0.098 Flex Cable and Octura Micro Strut from OSE.

The 52 mm rudder OSE stocks would also be nice for these boats, since it has a built in water pick up.

I used the fiber filled 30mm props from OSE and my Micro F1 Tunnel Hull moves very well. Well enough to need only 80% throttle, unless I enjoy flying !!!

The only other suggestion would be to look for a 2040 Brushless Water Cooled Motor that has a higher KV rating. I just ordered one from HobbyPartz that is a 4800 kv. I hope the Micro Tunnel can handle that, or I'll have to get a Pilot's licence.

Can you point me in the direction of this vendor? I would think a 30mm prob too large? The rudders I have do have water pickups, not sure how effective they will be, but they are there...

Octura 0.098 Flex Cable, Micro Strut & Props are available from OSE

The Turnigy Brushless ESC, I bought from HobbyKing.com

For the Mono and Hydro hulls, you should consider the Piano Wire Drives that OSE sells, they are simpler to install, have less drag and can be stronger than flex cable.

Hmm.. interesting. That looks like the same strut I am using, the rudder has a longer "beam". Any particular reason why I would want a longer 'beam' on the rudder? Does having it farther from the hull make a big difference?

From what I see from your pic's, it's the same strut, same rudder.
They come anodized in pretty colors !

I like the silver color because it's so "industrial".

I just ordered a 30mm bronze prop from the Ebay vendor mentioned.
I want to be able to comfortably handle 25,000 rpm Plus without incident.

The next step?

I'll try to get another video up on the F1 Tunnel Hull,
After the tedious task of moving stuff up to get the center of gravity more forward and adjusting the strut to 0 degrees but with the center line 3 mm above the bottom of the rear sponsons, the boat has gained about 20% in Speed !

The problem is, now I'm dying to verify how fast she's going, and GPS isn't what I consider cheap !

What do you mean by the beam of the rudder?

Also, on my F1, I wanted the rudder to run in "cleaner" water, so it is located in front of the prop and works very well.

The boat turns slightly better to the right and left turns are sluggish until she's up on her sponsons.

I added small ABS plastic edges to the rear most inner sponson surfaces, like shallow turn fins, and it really helps the boat "bite" into turns.

In fact, it will turn within 2 feet at 80% throttle without much drama!

I was also a bit skeptical about the water intake, but it works well in cooling both the speed control and the motor on my boat !
