Those Stiletto outboards are a nice idea but they look very short and more suited for a cat. The tops of the motor covers would likely end up below the top of the deck area thus not looking scale.

These EP1s seem to be the longest and most scale. I have run mine pretty hard quite a few times and I have been pulling the vertical shaft after every few runs to inspect the gears and they seem to be holding up.

Brian no need to print out a picture and hold it up to the hull. Tomorrow I'll use those specs and make a mock up transom out of posterboard and mock up 3 EP1s and see how it looks.

Hey sorry if this is off topic but was wondering if you know where I can get those plastic arms for the rudder? I have an old Bonzi gasser with the same rudder and both of them broke, I have it kinda rigged now but I would love to get some replacements.

      Thanks!

I don't know Chris the Stiletto motors are bigger then they look. In the store section here Steven has them laying on a grid and they are fairly tall. You are right the EP1s do look the most scale. My buddy has a Stiletto maybe I can hold the hull up to his boat and get a better idea.

Oh yeah it would! Any other parts? only thing I could think of would be the radar arch, not sure if I would want it? Were there any other details included?
Only thing I could think of would be the wood pieces for the windshield. If you could trace them on a piece of paper and write what thickness each piece was would be awesome! As long as I am begging, i guess I should go for broke.

I am also interested in seeing if they would work out and how they would look. this should help you some also.

The wood for the windshield are just blank pieces of wood but it should give dimensions and specs in the plans, I'll have to look. The radar arch is a piece of fiberglass in the arch shape, it needs to be trimmed and finished. PM me your address and I'll throw them in USPS tommorow or friday, then just send them back when your done.

It is an Octura rudder, should be available. Brian

                Yes that picture helps, thanks.

Let me do a little research on the Stiletto. If they will fit and look "proportionate" then I might use them. At least that way I can strap the biggest motor that will fit and not have to worry about the gears.

But I will want counter rotating props so the reverse cables will be an issue.

Chris check out the twin outboard cat thread here in the build section. They talk about reverse cables and running the Stiletto outboards backwards. And also what size motors will fit on them. I guess there are sources for the reverse cables. Maybe if we get enough guys we can do some kind of group buy on them. I'm thinking about a twin build with them along with another member here who has one of these Scarab hulls also.

Yeah I have been watching the twin outboard cat thread. And I see these Stilettos are pretty big at nearly 9" tall. But just not scale looking enough for me. Yes I am into the scale thing over all out top speed. Hell I think my little 31" Challenger Scarab build moves out pretty good with two brushless EP1s.

I am considering this hull for a triple outboard center console build. I think with three of them pushing this hull there will be very little load on those gears.

Just for craps and giggles I ran my twin EP1 Scarab on one motor (disconnected battery on the other) and the thing hauled ass still. I have to think with both running the gear load is minimal.

With that in mind I think I will stick with them, I just want to make sure this is the right hull for the project.

The gear issues are what worries me. The hull I ave is big and heavy. I know that outboards also snap cables quite often as well. Still working out what and how I want to go with this. I've got the nice long winter to work on this build. Ahh the benifits of living in an area with snow and cold?!?!

So the cable outboards snap cables huh? No big deal, its all part of the game. But actually being able to get the replacement parts is key here.

Nobody has the EP1 gears. At this point you have to buy a whole new motor for a 5 dollar set of gears.

But from what I have been reading these EP1s were off the market for a while and just recently were reintroduced. The gears used to be available and maybe they will again now that the motors are in production again.

Just weighed my setup. 6s-4400 setup weighed in at 6lbs, 15 oz ready to run with hatch.

I think my hull is about 2 lbs lighter than the stock hull. Not sure if that will make a huge difference or not at 7 vs 9 lbs for RTR on a hull this large. Of course, a lighter hull, lowers the amperage required to push it onto plane, allows me to go with a smaller and lighter motor.?????? maybe ??

Build it and we will see. i would like to see more of these come to life. For the $45 in motor and ESC, I might just have to pull out my 54" scarab molds and make up a twin with semi scale drives! That would rock, that old 1/8 scale dumas scarab model is where it is at!

Man I'm sorry Brian I did not mean to hijack your thread, but your the one who inspired me to dig this hull out from under the workbench and clean the dust off it.

Let me borrow those bolsters and you can do whatever you want to my thread!

Not hijacked actually, all of this discussion is build ideas on these large offshore mono's, i don't mind at all.
