    MTI Single Motor Conversion

Work I started this due to the lack of parts for the little cat. As pictured the hardware was pulled and hull cleanup is in progress. When I have it complete Carbon fiber cloth will be put down on the tunnel and down both side where the motor mounts stuffing tubes where. I will then install a single KB9XL on a Hex120 along with the pictured strut and dual rudder system. I am going to run this on S6 getting around 31K in rpm. I have yet to buy the KB. The rudder is in transit. The strut is 1/4 inch. I need to look into a 1/4 drop down propshaft to 3/16th. If not I will replace the strut. Whats delivered in the mail each day will determine what gets done to the boat.

    Layup

I finished cleaning up the tunnel tonight and preped it for the carbon fiber(& a big KB). I mixed about 2 or 3 oz of the clear 2ton devcon ans applied it evenly to the tunnel with a cut down paint brush. The cf cloth was easer to cut than I thought. It's also easy to work with. Pushed the cloth down into the devcon and smothed it out with a piece of cardboard. I am going to let it cure for 24 hours and the put a top coat on it. I will repete the process on both sides of the tunnel where the motors where mounted from bow to stern. That should sure it up enough.

Not that there seems to be any interest but I got the tunnel finished tonight & both sides got the first layer of devcon and matt. I will do the top coats on the sides tomorrow night. After that all sets up the hardware should be here and I cand start with the driveline. As you can see I got some fogging in the devcon...Oh well. I'm prolly gona paint it all anyway.

        Hardware Mockup

Ok I got the Carbon fiber all done and assebled the new hardware. NICE stuff(except the strut). I will need a longer strut. This one in not even slotted for ajustment. Each rudder has to pickups feeding a single outlet. Nice of you clog one. The mount area is not perfect. The system hangs down slighly so I will be adding to the transom in order to fill it out. I will need to order the KB & strut soon in order to start the drive system.

I find it interesting that if the flash hits the cf just right its transparent.
