Delta Force 29 build - trim tabs?

How important are trim tabs on the DF29? what have you guys found the best ones and placement if they are necessary.

I have a speedmaster stinger strut, don't know if this matters or not. Lemme know if I need to post a pic of transom.

Tips on these would be helpful as I have not had a lot of time on one of these.

    thanks

Trim tabs and turn fins are not needed if the boat is built properly...

i have seen this discussed before on trim tabs or not.
i have seen guys swear trims tabs are not needed but once they tried them they found they could run the boat faster in race/choppy water.

Start without them. If you dont like the handling, add them. With the tabs, the further out they are (starboard and port) the more it will keep the bow planted in turns. More centered, and It will run flatter (wetter) in the straights. I'd run without, then diagnose, and add if, and where needed. turn fins can never hurt. I angle mine back a bit so that they dont drag in the water in the straights, but once banked over for a turn, they dig in.

I had the Fullers style tabs on my DF29. Very easy to adjust and simple, instead of having 4 individual tabs you have one long tab with a screw on each of the corners. I sold the boat before I did the modification I was wanting to but with this type of tab you can take the stainless part of the actual tab and cut a slit strait up the middle of the ride surface. That way you will still have a solid one piece bracket with individual "tabs" for adjustment. Alot like the new ones that Steven sells now. As far as turn fins.....they are a MUST!

Ya, no doubt about turn fins... I had never wondered about them - don't have a mono w/o. I like the single mount with separate parts to it, will have to try them.

Jesse, when you ran tabs, were they installed flush with the bottom of the hull, or up a bit?

Tabs need not to be flush with bottom but maybe an 1/8th inch above.and the need to be set apart at least wider than the largest prop that one will run on his boat.Trim tabs not only adjust attitude but can compensate for torque lean.I agree with isaniac to a point but the tabs give you flexibilty for different battery combos and cgs
but the boat does need to be in the ballpark before you start fooling with the tabs. They can only correct so much.
