    Whiplash 20 build, another one...

I was asked to post some build pictures so here it goes. I will give some tips along the way.

Whip is done, so I have time now. Might not get it all done in a day so here goes.

I had a Jig from Paul Pachmeyer and it kinda helped me out but, in the long run get a nice 1/2 sheet of MDF like I did to build on, make sure it is as flat as possible and get some parchment paper to prevent sticking to the table.

I can't seem to find to many framing pics from early on, not suprising since it took me 2 years or more to build, I'm ;slow, sue me, LOL...

First 2 pics are to show that I pre-bent some parts that the instructions tell you to bend but, I used hot water (boiling) to soften the wood first, that way it keeps the bent shape and the wood is not "loaded" up like a spring.

Any parts that require some bending I did this type of heat & saturate, the jig up to bend until cool.

I basically followed the instructions, paying attention to all the weights they used to hold it all in place while securing the bottom, (most critical) and top.

One slight mistake I made was the frame doublers #7 & #8 up front. You have to make shure that they are installed properly, so that you are left with very little or no sanding to level things out. These parts seem to have one smooth curve on one edge and one sort of flat edge. Make sure you make them all fit the same way, I didn't and had a tiny bit of sanding to do on the bottom, you will see. It's not bad at all.

Tack it up with CA, then hold it all down with weights and use epoxy to weep into all the joints. I used a heat gun to help that out.

I used MAS epoxy. You really need to use this kind of quality epoxy because it is a world of difference compared to hobby grade finishing epoxies. West systems and some others are fine too.

Thanks Ray, I am looking forward to the rest. It was good to hear from you as I am a little bored waiting in line for the ferry to Newfie. I hope it's not too rough out there. BG
