These are the 2s packs I will be using. Would a seaking 60a esc be big enough for this combo using an octura 535?? I have a seaking 60 and a turnigy 120, but I'm saving the 120 for another project.

Hey Scott, I think you will want to go with the 120a in this baby. I don't think the 60a will be enough.

I forgot you were running the "xl" in this thing. The 120a may not be enough. I think that the turnigy 180 would be better suited if you can.

I was checking the feigao motor specs, and the 9xl is rated at 74 max amps. Im sure it will pull more amps if I use big props, but I thought with a relatively small prop like the 535 I could get away with the 60-amp for a while.

You'll def. want at least a 120. I'm not sure it will even get on plane with a 35mm prop.

Ok, The y535 came with the hull. Any prop recommendations??

With a 9xl, Start with a x442, or perhaps a 440/3. It will be considerably heavier than the nitro, which is why the small prop won't work well.

I ran the miss llumar today on the 60amp esc and y535. It cavitated a bit before planing but seemed to run real well. This is my first hydro so I was trying to get used to the handling of the hull. I got a gps reading of 37mph. and nothing burned, and temps were warm to the touch. I need to work on sealing around the canopy. Got quite a bit of water inside. Thanks Rum & Blackcat for the help. I'm gonna put the 120 in this weekend and I have a nice x442 I can use as well. I'm gonna really try and get some video too. I know you guys wanna see some vids!

this hull is BEAUTIFUL - BUT it needs a sub hatch and lots of silicone. I ended up making a subhatch out of styrene and it reduced the intake- and a cockpit plug... not the prettiest but all on the inside.

That's the thing I dislike most about these hulls. Taping them up is a PITA. Jesse is right about sealing up the thing. Here is a few shots of the back of the "exhaust". Carbon fiber, a good strong construction adhesive, then flat black.

Thanks for the pics! I'm gonna seal the intake hole on the canopy the same way. Tricky part is how to seal where the canopy overlaps the turbine exaust.

OK, got the intake and exaust holes sealed op. Cut a piece of plastic to fit inside the exaust port and taped it on one side with electrical tape. Then epoxied from the other side. After it sets, you can pull the electrical tape off. Works pretty good. Did the same for the intake. It has 3-dime-sized holes that I backed with tape and filled with epoxy.

Also got the turnigy 120 installed. Had to offset the batteries because the left side gets in the way of the water outlet. All I need now is a baloon for the tactic receiver and a couple pieces of brass tube to make a prop adapter for my octura 442. I should get it out on the water today and hopefully get some video.

The build looks like its going well. I had forgotten that the later proboat hydro series had walled up the sponson access. In the earlier series you had access to the sponson tunnels and you could place your batteries outboard. Do you have a smaller prop then a X442 to move up to? Seems like a big jump from a 535.

I have a cf-40. I was told that the 535 was waaay too small.
