any ideas on adding an additional water pickup to a hydro?

without getting a new rudder with twin water pickups . i would like to add a water pickup, but im not sure what type to use or where to add it on a hydro. obviously the only parts of the boat that are in the water are the rudder, prop and front sponsons. anyone got any ideas?

You really need more than one pickup?

I run a 6XL on 4S to a 640 or 642 prop in my big rigger and one water pickup is good for that. The esc is non cooled but the motor has a full jacket.

If you need more water cooling then that is your call and I would shoot for a prop blast as they are very effective. You cant really miss the inlet, the water starts flowing before the boat is moving and the drag effect is about the same as any other type of water pickup.
The minimal amount of drag incured by any water pick should be minimal.

What I would like to know is why you need so much water ??

I ask as I have now gone to a lower stress setup for most of my boats where water cooling is only needed for longer runs.
If a setup is so stressed that it needs gobs of water then it is close to a SAW setup that should be run as such or the whole setup needs re-evaluating and reconfiguring so that there is not such a need for the amount of water cooling that youare asking after.

Just my thoughts and possible suggestions.

i guess i just want dedicated lines for the motor and speed control, plus why not? what's it hurting? i run a stock ul-1 with 40/52 prop. a prop blast sounds cool, guess i'll have to fabricate something. a rudder arm i suppose.... anyways thanks guys Dana

dana. check out the pics of the dumas atlas for sale in the swap shop. it has some really big clear pics of just what you need. nothing to fabricate really just heat up some brass tube and bend like the pic. run it thru transom. i too like a dedicated water line for the esc and motor. just makes me feel a little better even if not necessary. i also always try to bend up water outlets or run them out the sides so they are highly visible when water flowing. learned that the hard way. lol. good luck!! fyi. racing the elam against bunch o nitro boats next weekend!!!
