    Is this wrong?

Should I have this much gap between the prop and strut? I cut and soldered the flex cable, it hits the bottom of the coupler on the motor and pushes against the bearing in the strut. Should this have a little more play perhaps? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!!!!

It's is hard to decipher exactly hot much gap you have there. Maybe take a measurement and let us know. The gap looks like it could be a little less, but like I said it is hard to decipher without any given dimensions.

I guess my other question is does the flex cable get shorter or longer under load?

Shorter. That is the reason for the gap. You want the gap the size of your cable dia. 3/16" cable, 3/16" gap.

Hi, did you build that or was it a ready to run?
can you submit a few more pics of the boat please?
call me crazy but from the pic the prop looks to be turning pretty deep under water or maybe it's just my imagination..... once again..... running away with me.

That's huge...I don't think the cable will wind up that much (3/16").

I run all of my flex cables at 2-3mm gap. under loads the flex gets a bit shorter. the recommendations on my Fastech is for a 2mm gap

tuslow1 I bought the hull and hardware, it is a victory 32" bud select cat. The picture does not show the bottom of the hull that it rides on, it is farther forward. The prop center line is even with the bottom of the hull. It is not up above, sorry tricky picture. I'll zoom out next time.
