    Just got a HUGE hull

    Hey all,

I just got this huge hull pretty cheap and would like to convert it to brushless but I don't know if it's too big to do it in a reasonable price range.

It is a 36" hydro and I have a few ideas but I'm not sure on a boat this size.

    1) I was thinking possible this combination but I don't know if it is still too big for even this setup:

    ESC: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=8937

    Motor: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=6677

Batteries: 5000mAh 3s lipos run in series to get a 6s setup.

Does anyone have any references to a build page for this size boat.

    2) Also, If i continue with it how could I seal up the hull better so that water won't leak into the compartments?

    Thanks

For what it is worth I will give you my 2 cent. This looks like a fun build to me. I think this boat will need to be a 6s or higher voltage setup. With 2 5000mah 3s batts you have two ways of wiring batts. (3s2p=11.1V 10000mah or 6s1p=22.2V 5000mah.) The motor you listed is a 3s motor. 11.1 X 2800kv = 31000rpm. You want to keep motor rpm at or below about 30k rpm. If you ran that 2 pole motor in this boat on 3s I don’t think your 180a esc would last one run. If you ran this motor on 6s 22.2 X 2800kv=62000rpm I don’t think the motor would last more than one run and would most likely destroy esc along with itself. I think 6s1p @ 5000mha batts might be on small side but I think would be fine with higher than 40c rating. I would not use these cheep HK motor on this or any other hull they run hot. I know price of these are tempting but save your money. I could be wrong but hull looks a little heavy. If I was doing this boat I would run 1200kv-1400kv Feigao xl or large Ammo 36x88 1280kv motor on 6s. Feigao is a much better motor IMO than HK’s. I would leave plenty of room around motor for bigger 580 size can or longer 4 pole motor for future. I think 540xl Feigao or Ammo will push this boat 35 to 40mph. The esc will be fine for a 6s set up. Also look at Himodel 200A esc for a budget esc.

I would get some 1/8” plexi glass from Lowes/HD cut piece out for windshield. Heat plexi up in boiling water bend to form new windshield. As far as back opening I would do something like what I did on this tunnel with wood and plexi. It works great and no tape.

Look at builds for conversion of Miss Vegas to electric for ideas.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I like overkill. No I agree I was thinking about 1/16" and typed 1/8".

I just bought a new boat and need to move some items I don’t need. I am getting ready to list items on swap shop. Two items I think you will be interested in a motor and esc. I have a like new used 13xl feigao 1339kv motor $45 and a new never used 200A ESC w/bec himodel type$55. These esc are easy to waterproof and I have cooling plates if you need one. I use these esc and they work well for cheap esc in boats. This is less than what you would pay for the motor and esc at HK and this is a much better motor. If interested let me and I will post pictures.
              Thanks

Thank you for the offer but I have decided to trade the boat. I had someone locally offer several great item to trade for it so I think I am going to go that route.
