    Current Config; Hydra 240lv, 1527 1.5d, 6s2p (4 x 3s1p 30c Series/Parallel) and a 445 prop on an 078 wire drive.

My big concern is being top heavy and narrow.

I dont think it being more top heavy will matter too much. You wont know till you run it though. I think the 4 lipo packs in the sponsons will make up for any difference in motor weight. Do you have a motor mount?

I have this one on the way. I don't know the bolt pattern on the 1527 though.

Yes Tiqueman I think so. my only technical problem is to find a pair of stingers more than 10cm long.
If you' ve got a link let me know
This model 3/16" from HOTR is 7,8cm long, what do you think using a 3cm aluminium brace (spacer) ?

The new mounting holes are just a hair farther apart then a standard 540 motor. There may be enough wiggle room to get the screws between the spacing on that mount............who knows, it may be made for it and just fit right on.

Here is a suggestion only............. If it were my $250 motor i would want it kept as cool as possible, and I myself would use two 1509 jackets as the long one for the 1527 wont work with that mount. you have 50mm or so between the mount and the support which will accept the 38mm jacket nicely.....then you will have about 40mm hanging out the back which should also accept one. This is of course based on the jacket fitting diameter wise which i believe it will............double check with Steven.

The mounting surface area is too large on those. They will not work.

If I don' t find long stingers I can build something like this. Motor ==> flex collet ==> flex shaft ==> flex collet ==> shaft with sterntube
                  What do you think?

Ive heard a few builds like that. Does that allow the stinger to be adjusted somehow?

No adjustment but is it really necessary? I don' t think. shaft with sterntube is parallel to the bottom of the hull

Hmmm. Didn't think about the cooling can. Haven't really thought it through, waiting to have motor in hand. This mount is for my 2200 in another boat, but was thinking it might work, but guess not.

OK, so time to source a motor mount that will work with the bigarse cooling can that's coming with it.

Turns out the orange & CF mount works perfectly. Will need to make a stringer support, but it wraps around the motor perfectly.

Motor's here. Mounts here... Hydra's here... Gonna be a fun day tomorrow. =)
