I figured that I would post some pictures of my converted VS1. I've only ran it at one club race, but I gone back thru it again and should be testing again on monday.
I cut thru the deck and removed the foam. You need to get the CG as low as possible. Make sure you support the bottom sheeting after removing the foam!

I haven't had much luck using silicone tubing and wire ties to keep water out of the steering cable tubes. I was thinking about trying these...
What has been your experience?
this is how i do it and it doesnt leak a drop. it is wire through the brass tube then heat shrink. i use small rings or fuel tubing to insure the heat shrink doesnt slip.
I too use heat shrink for the motor wires, but I was wondering about the steering cables. I tried running the cable through silicone tubing with tie wraps, but it still leaks if I flip the boat.
I am thinking about replacing it with bellows that would expand and contract like an accordion.
One trick you can try before swapping out to radio box seals… stuff the open end of the fuel tubing with thick grease where the steering wire goes in to the tubing. The grease may be enough to seal that area
all i use is the housing that comes with the cable with a light coat of grease. i use the dubro 1/16th cable on all my tunnels for the throtle and never leak even a drop...
