Oh, sorry to mislead everyone, it was the cesa version without steps I was talking about, I thought that and the super hawaii were the same hull with different decals.

I have several of these style boats, they are lightweight and a 1521 is way overkill. You dont need a 3000watt motor for this boat. a 9L with a 120a ESC on 4s 4000 - 5000mah... It will be more than you can drive. It is in the one I built. Hope this helps

I am about to start a build thread on one of these Super Hawaii's. Just ordered up some Hardware from Steve. Still considering power options. If you say this motor is too much would you change the set-up if doing it again? If so what would you recommend?

A supervee motor and esc would be plenty for this boat. I think you would be suprised at how well it would run. Plus with the low amp setup you can also run your old nihm cells for added weight, it needs it. You can also fill it with 2 part marine foam for added strength, weight and much needed floatation for the abs hull. I also like the idea of cutting the boat down a little, that would fix alot of it problems. Oh and one more thing is the wing helps to blow it over at speed...good luck. I looked at this on U2b a while back to check out how well the 9L ran in a similar boat.

Well i finished it up and hit the water while i was in Michigan. water was choppy when i took it out the second time. the 447/3 blade is awesome for this boat. got 2 trim tabs mounted and it rides perfectly in my opinion. i think i could go a little bigger with batteries. the motor and ESC stay cool no matter what. the 2 6cell packs are just right. this boat is quick now. handles hard on corners but the size of the boat doesnt help. i think i could use a little longer rudder but as it stands it's where i wanted to take this thing. i havent speed tested it yet. didnt have my gps with me. my guess is about 35mph on a calm day, maybe faster, idk..
