    DF Vortex Hydro

I am hoping to finish my first sports hydro build in the next week or so
I am looking for some advise
the hydro is a Delta Force Vortex 22 x 11
I would like to run on a Turnigy B36/ 56 /2600 motor on 2 x 2s 3700 MaH 20C lipos 38,480kv or if this is to hot ,I have the option to run on a single 3s 3700Mah 28,860 kv but I would like to run on 4s if possible
I have an etti 150A esc to con troll
    ul1 strut and a 150 flex cable
    ul1 turn fin
I only need to buy a prop and rudder to complete the build but not sure what size rudder and prop to get
I read that there is a difference between a hydro rudder and a mono rudder and they all have different lengths and distances from the transom
what size do you thing I should use on a Vortex Hydro

Do you Guys think this set up will be reliable for 45mph /50mph 3 minute+ runs? with the correct size prop

    thanks

You can do it, It is a little hot. I ran a ammo 2600 on 4s with the same esc in that boat. Use a smallish prop. I eneded up with a x637. It will do 50 plus mph with that setup, but keep an eye on temps. Extra caps is always a good thing on the etti as well.

Do you think a 3"x 1" mini mono rudder of a minicat voloity will work, or do i need a longer rudder

It may work. How far will it hang down below your strut?

I am a newbe here and in need of help. I am wondering about the strut and rudder length for my OSE Vortex also, I had a old 22" Pico hydro that ran in the 40+ mph and was going to use the rudder and strut on the Vortex. after seeing what you guys are doing I am questioning whether they are adaquit. The strut will set about .625 below the bottom of the hull and the rudder will set at 1.5 below the bottom. The rudder is 2" in OA height and is 1.5" in length from transom, will this work??

After reading all the posts on the Vortex I am even more confused as to the proper setup for my Vortex.. I was told to install the motor on CG, I noticed that all posted are farther back, where is a good location for the motor?? Am I to set all my gear in the hull and get the CG RIGHT with the hardware in place??
Beings I am on a tight budget I see that I am going to need a strut /rudder setup but I dont know any lengths to find the best for my money.I am using a .125 flex cable and .25 stuffing tube and I have a 2881kv water cooled brushless motor. I was planning to get a 120 amp esc. I am comfortable with that much so far. GUESS I REALLY NEED HELP

Brian, I would suggest starting a new thread and posting up pics of your set up - unless you just have a bare hull at this point. I am not sure you will have enough rudder - especially if you are wanting to go fast. As for strut, the place to start is the same depth as the sponsons. CG, well this is the trick with hydros. Aim for 1.5" aft of trailing edge of sponsons. Motor can be wherever you like it - if you are putting batts infront, you may want it a tad back-I'm guessing this is why the ones you saw were farther back.

Snap a shot of your proposed setup with the stuff laid in the hull and we will go from there.

                  Thanks Jesse J
Yes it is a bare hull, and yes I want to go fast. I believe I can just get that for the strut but no adjustment other than the pivot of the strut which would be minamal. I do want the batteries in front. Is it correct to offset the motor 3/16 to starboard? I will hahe to work on the pics.
I am new to this site and not sure how to post new thread.
