    Properchopper's Top Secret Build Revealed!

A week or so ago Tony and I and I along with Bill O. helped teach youngsters how to drive their very first RC boat at the Pomona RC show. Venom supplied a few Wave Jumpers for this experience and the kids absolutley loved it. Tony and I were given Wave Jumpers. I shared mine with underpriviledged kids in my neighorhood but Tony had a much different idea.

After the run yesterday on my lake, and after everyone left, Tony shared his new "Top Secret' race boat build with me. He plans to modify a Wave Jumper. The attached pictures tell the story.

Not satisfied with the run time and top speed of the stock Wave Jumper, Tony is making a few minor modifications:

He replaced the stock 1800 mAhr NiMH cell with a 5000mAhr 40C racing LiPo pac
He cut the hatch open to get at the tiny stock brushed motors
Is installing some BIG brushesss beasts with water cooling and direct "stinger-type drives.

I told him he was crazy................he needs a 3-bladed polished metal props rather than a two bladed carbon filled toy props to make the thing go.

Evidently Tony got some advanced information from the National and International FE racing association that they plan to introduce a new racing class called the "Unlimited Jet Ski Class".

That's old Tony.............always ahead of the FE curve.

PS, He would not say if Randy at BBY is consulting for him on this project.

        Sweet Tony!

Last year I got the same jet ski (but the NQD variety). I gutted the hull and layed glass cloth on the floor. I plan to put a Jet drive in it, but don't have the jet drive as yet.
I replaced the driver and installed this. She will steer the boat I will just tell her which way I want her to go!

                ...besides
If I have to stare at a doll riding an RC boat, I'd rather look at the girl than stare at a guy. Just my pot shot back at ya!

I have to publicly say that Joe (questek) has the ultimate FE home... has a testing pond literally outside his door, and the shop right there next to it on the second floor...
Joe thank you for having us over and being such a nice host, have not seen something like it in a while.

Come on Tony, keep this going. Those HXT motors should do the trick too. I'm curious about the setup. Differential steering with a mixer? Very nice Engineering Facility, we all need that to further the hobby!

Tony, Got your message about the electronics not operating even with the power switch bypassed. The next time you come down, bring the Wave Jumper and I can try to fix the receiver control electronics. You will probably be installing new electronics anyway. It turns out there is NO speed control in the Wave Jumper. The transmitter control signals just activate a relay for each of the motors. There is a Cap across the small brushed motors to "cushion" the initial voltage surge. There are no provisions for multiple channels in the origional 27 Mhz set up either.

Love the helpcopter idea on the back................... Your helo flying lessons have probably made you VERY good by now.
