some tech info needed on a new CAT project

    Hello Guys

I am new to electric boats (racing gasoline boats at moment). I have a 30 inch Aeromarine Cat Hull that I am setting up with a 6s Feibao 580 brushless motor, 180Amp Turnigy Marine ESC.

The shaft will be 3/16 for a 1/8 prop.

Can you guys suggest a good propeller diameter for this set up?

    Cheers
    Andre

I dont think you would want to run a 1/8" prop. At least 3/16".

okay i am taking it that its a mean machine, imo its a bit of over kill
          a 540 xl would be a better choice.or a neu motor on 4s
other than that try a y537/3 prop from octura, you will want a .187 flex and 3/16 shaft

thanks mate, been given the feibao as a suggestion from the guys at offshoreelecrtics.... you think drivable with a 6s 3850 TP packs? more for top end rather than competitive racing.... not much going on around here (Singapore) for electric... lots of gassers...

if you havent brought the motor yet and want to go 6s a neu 1515 1.5y would be a very good setup.
                a decent 4s setup like a neu 1515 1y 2200kv on 4s 1p 5000 would be good as well.
the feigao 580 is a heavier motor and less efficient than the neu
the neu is $90 more expensive but well worth it.
o.s.e also has the 1415 1.5y in stock and is only $50 more than the feigao this to would make a very nice 6s motor

unfortunately i bought it motor the other day in hong kong... for a 100 USD so good price i guess? i get a feeling that i should have worked on a 4S set up... do you see any major set backs if i go with the big motor and 6S?

the motor is fairly heavy but will produce more than enough power,i was just trying to give what i thought was better options.
that motor on 6s will still be a very strong setup, imo a little heavy but if pushing for high speed the extra weight may help.
one thing if your pushing for speed i would get on of these hatches, much easier to tape down and less likely to come of in a flip http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...m-cowl&cat=123

Shoe box is great as long as you can keep the lid on the box:-)
