So she got out for the maiden voyage yesterday!

To finish the story, I filled the rest of the bow with GrreatStuff and sanded her down to a nice curve to fit the deck. Then I sprayed the deck with the M33 or whatever that good spray glue is, and heavy weight fiberglass and joined em up. Then I sprayed the foam in the bow with spray glue and the freshly glassed deck and then ran a bead of clear silicone around the entire lip of the deck. Starting at the back I lined up the deck with the hull and laid her down. I rubbed out the bow to make the spray glue affix and then wrapped her up with rubber bands about every inch. Let sit over night and vioaloah.

      here is link to vid.
      And some choppy water vid

Thought I'd add some highlight pics.

I'll be running two 25c 5800mah 3s turnigys in series..............and i'm going to try out an x445.

Took her out yesterday and she went like a scalded dog...................at half throttle. I was a little timid to give her too much more til i get all the exact tuning right. THEN, took her out again today, ran great until i lost radio control i think(2.4ghz) swerved back and forth and throttle stayed on about 10%..............rammed right into the boat ramp concrete and it nearly ripped my rudder off.......no break way bolt Now im fabbing an aluminum plate inside the transom to repair it as it cracked the ABS. I have never had a boat go out of control like that.........i have no clue what happened.

Great looking boat Jesse J! Sorry to hear about yours Make-a-wake.... If that ever happens to mine I may have to be restrained until the valium kicks in. Then I'll go get my mask and snorkel to find the radio I chucked in the lake.
I hope your boat turns out ok! Is there such a thing as a break away bolt to use on rudders?
Jesse J, I read somewhere not to use great stuff because it can damage your hull, and that you should only use 2 part foam....??? Or am I confused on that? I forget where I read it... Anyway, boat looks like it's running awesome!

Thanks for nice words, and sorry to hear about the radio problems, what speedo are you running? I've had somewhat similar problems running an ESC with internal BEC and an FM radio... but high freq? If it was a range issue, maybe transmitter batts? if not range then maybe some kind of interference. Were you in an aluminum boat?

I am pretty happy with how she came out. She is sitting there now with her 6S3P awaiting our next mission. 5S was great and evidently minimum voltage, 'cuz when we went out in 10" chop, she wouldn't even get up on a plane with 4S. I will be adding more prop when I get em, an X447 or Prather 230. Have a Prather 225 now and am curious to see how she does in a little calmer waters.

I have not heard of problems with greatstuff, might need to do more research - if you have a link to more info please provide. Anyway, the greatstuff in the bow is in contact with the West System epoxy, so I doubt it will hurt the hull. I did spray some in the rear to fill a gap, hopefully that won't cause any problems.

Yes a break away is common on a rudder and has saved me many transoms. good luck on the repairs Wake Maker.

I have used Great stuff for years on ABS and Fiberglass boats with NO issues. Just add small amounts at a time to be safe from overexpansion.

Ah, if overexpansion is the risk then I'm not worried as I do layers as well and have seen that if you give it enough opening it won't bulge anything. The only thing I have heard that is over time it may shrink a tad... hope not, but with heavy fiberglass and West System, I think I be groovin.

Carl, any vids? Are you sure you weren't over your mid 30s target on 6S? I am very interested to see how yours performs.
What is your bare hull weight? mine was 5-6 lbs. closer to 12 lbs running weight. I would not feel very good about running this much weight if the whole front half weren't full of foam!
Is yours reinforced or running stock abs hull?
How did you mount your motor?

                            Jesse,
Just saw the videos on you build. She looks awsome in the water, nice job.
I've always loved the looks of this boat. I'd be all over those waves as well.

Thanks for the interest and encouragement guys.............. Jesse, where is your vid? Says it has been removed......??? I wanna see it again. The only thing i can think of is that my Tx batts were low.........i just got done running 3 other boats, and i was on the shore. I didnt get to use the video camera due to the rudder blunder..............i was making a few passes before taping. I was out with a friend, Justin who has posted on this thread, and the absolute funniest thing happened...........without vid..............his little twin brushless cat was running about 45 on small chop and it went in nose first........completely gone!!, under the water for about 3 seconds and then came shooting back out, rear first like a missle two feet out of the water..............he just took off from there..............you had to be there to believe it.......the large crowd just broke out in awe and laughter.

I do not have near the reinforcement you have Jesse.............i make my own motor mounts from aluminum "L" stock, never had one bend, break or come loose yet and they are all on 6s boats.....including my Villain.

The rudder deal is going to work out better witrh the stiffer transom and i can now extend the rudder out to where it should be anyways.

BTW................i was basically using 3 or 4s due to throttle input, very suprised with the speed................... i was kinda expecting the thing to run like a battleship with the weight and the fact that is it so long and narrow. Havent weighed it, but its a pig with the 2 5800 3s in series positioned all the way in the back in those nice factory slots.
