    10" sub Micro Cat

    Hi,

I just ordered my first set of plans from peells went to the shop to pick up the assembly materials and no dice, they didn't have the Plywood materials that are needed, so I ordered the plywood etc. But for the time being I got some other hardwood material and decided to make a smaller version of the same boat. I was planning to do this anyways to have a pool toy but I'm going to do it before instead of after.

The plan is to use a scaled down version of the "Lynx" boat plans from peells for a 10" length. I'm going to make the rudder assembly and motor mounts from carbon fiber material that I have laying around from a car accident :) I'm going to use the props from the Mini-z catamaran with either of the following motors:

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...trunner_1850Kv

    or

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...r_Motor_4500kv

I'm not sure which would be best adept for the size of the prop and the boat.

let me know what you think? This is my first boat build so any input would be great.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Little update,

I got all of the parts traced out onto the wood and cut out. Im sill doing the finishing sanding to all of the pieces but so far things look pretty good. After dry fitting , and breaking a couple of the pieces, I noticed that the space im going to have to fit everything is a wee bit smaller than I thought I was going to have , But alas I think it should still be very doable. I should be getting the electronics soon and that will give me a good indication. Here are some pics of the pre-cut peices , more to come tonight or tommorow.

The 1230 is probably the best option, there is not really too much space. I am building one scaled down to 28cm, almost ready (Jesse J plan). I am thinking to go either a 1230 or twin outrunner, with mini-z 12mm props, 1mm wiredrive. Will post some pics later, maybe you can get ideas on the space...

Im, doing a twin setup with the 1230 motors. I was planning on using the mini-z props , but there isnt a counter prop to do a counter rotating setup , Im now planning on doing the smallest octura prop trimmed down a bit unless I can find something better.

I think in this size you do not really care if they are counter rotating... It should not be affected.

Well, here's my baby... still some sanding to do to the cockpit.
              Motors are:

              two outrunners 1504, 9grams, 2200kv
              one 1230 inrunner, custom watercooled

with a 10A ESC, just a no name for now...

No updates as of yet , I blew out my knee playing Rugby and I am trying to get that sorted out , I did manage to finish sanding a bunch of the pieces and so far things seem to bee dry fitting well.

                      Thanks

Alright, 10" cat will be cool! I was wondering how small of a boat you could build without getting into crazy or non standard RC equipment. not sure what the smallest prop is out there or if the 27mm is about it for speed.

What is the length of that little hydro, looks great.

                            6s hydro.
Can't you see it? That is going to be a cruising catamaran. One motor is larger and torquey like a diesel for cruising, the other two are high speed like turbines and kick in for high speed running!

I wish... that is just my stock of small motors... the cat will get the 1230 watercooled.
Both cat and hydro are 27cm long, as we intend to do a class race on the local pond... limit is 30cm with hardware. The hydro is an Atlas Van Lines plan scaled down and different cockpit. Will do a proper one later on.
The cat will be on 1mm wiredrive, mini-z props, 2S, hydro on 2mm flex, 30mm prop, 4S (450mA...)
