Looks like it would work fine that way, look at this guys setup, he is using a123 batteries but it should give you a good idea as to placement.

As long as the cog is correct, it doesn't matter if theyre in the sponsons or not.

is there any particular hardware set available at the moment for 21" hydro's, I read that there is a different to mono's and need to be offset, no one seems to have one in stock, any pointers appreciated
I would have liked a solinger set but cant find one for sale new or old

You can run the ul-1 strut and a speedmaster mini rudder.

If only I could find a suitable 3/16 strut and rudder set to buy new or old,
this seems to be my biggest challenge up to now, just cant find one
was even thinking about using a UL-1 strut and rudder
