    Climate Matrix Ultra build

Just bought this dicontinued kit in the swap shop. Got her the other day and got to gluing right away. Very well done kit and instructions. It has removable/adjustable sponsons. I reinforced the tunnel floor with carbon fiber. The ply is quite thin and flexible and this made it super rigid. I'm going to add a bit more in the rear as well. Got the tub assembled and sanded. Gonna start with a few more reinforcements as well as starting the sponsons tomorrowish. Going to run a speedmaster strut, rudder from the jae fe rigger and .150 flex. Power will be 4s2p, 40c Turnigy's. Probably a Seaking 180 and a Castle/Neu 1515 2200kv motor. I expect BIG speed from this little rigger! Here are some photos of progress so far.

Wow Rumdog you are all over that build , I will share any info you need from my Matrix build that is sadly at the bottom of Watson Lake . The Matrix really ran well traditional ride pads on the sponsons pictured below. My set-up was 3s 2p 5000 mAh 25c, Hydra 240, Neu 1512 1.5D, Fuller hadware, X642, top GPS was 62.8 mph. I would add extra ply to the outer sides, your lipos will try to push through the front of the tub in any kind of a crash, the thin sides will split for sure. The turn fin in the pic is one I custom welded out of stainless steel and ran very well, feel free to copy it. This hull ran well with 4 inches between the tub sides and sponson insides. Let me upload some photos .

Make sure that you make clear hatch covers out of thin plastic from a hobby store, then you can see your GPS or any water that may have entered.

Very clean build man! I've seen your vids, and that thing rocked! What type of paint did you go with? i do plan on toughening her up a bit more. I may use more CF on the sides as well. It helps soooo much, while adding little weight. Thanks for the pics and tips bro!

Well the yellow paint job really sucked when it was cold, the hatch tape just peeled it off big time, the problem was the final grey primer which was Dupicolor and the yellow paint just didnt take to it. I sealed all the wood with Minwax sanding sealer and clear coat the inside with Minwax Helmsman spar urethane clear satin in a rattle can. The white paint job was the second one, make sure you get flexible auto bumper grey primer in a rattle can from a auto paint store. Most guys wont get their paint from auto paint stores , but I like auto enamel. The most important thing is to use all of the outer paint from the same company, whehter its from a rattle can or auto store. Notice on the white paint job I left the hatch tape area in flex prime so no paint would peel off. More pic's.

Updat. Just about finished. Treated with minwax wood stain and 2 coats of satin clear. Waiting on my carbon fiber plate for the turn fin mount. Reinforced the entire hull. The front with cf and the rear, with fiberglass because I dont want radio interference with my Tactic rx.

Looks great Rumdog, cant wait to see what speeds you get. I started of with a X637, X640, and the X642 was the last prop I could use with the set-up I ran, things were warming up with the last prop. Are you running sponsons pads ?

I'm gonna try it at the turn fin and see how she goes.

RTR except for the turn fin. I expect big numbers from this rigger. Setup one more time is, Castle/Neu 1515 2200kv, Seaking 180, 4s2p 40c Turnigy's for 5300 mah total. Gonna try a x440 for the first run.

Yep, 2 4s 2650's in parallel. I actually have more room in there than i thought I would. The guy I bought the kit from runs his on 2 3s 5000mah packs, and they look tight!
