Well heres mine. This is my first wood build and first rigger. Thanks to Doug for all the help along the way! Here are some vids. Prop was a bag stock S/B H-7. I think its not sharp enough though as i has some prop walk (my guess).

looks good moper. now try a backcut 1450. i gained about 3mph over a h-7 by using a 1450 cut to 48mm with a little pitch and cup added. for some reason the h-7 works good on the 12 and the 1450 works on the 21

Around how much are you back cutting the 1450. I'm at 47.8 diameter with about 1.5 mm tongue removed.

              SWEET!!!! That's too cool.
This is our club presidents first FE boat. I couldn't hand him 4s packs fast enough yesterday.LOL
This boat is setup exactly as the others. UL-1 motor and ESC, Hyperion 4s 5500, ABC H-7 prop with slight mods.
Strut pushed down against the ski, set 90 degrees to the transom. Zippkits turn fin.

The tub can probably handle that pack, but the limiting factor is the width of the battery. The hatch opening is about 1-7/8" wide. I have to turn my Turnigy 4S 40c 5000 sideways to get it in. The 5S version of that pack would probably not fit. A 5s version my Polyquest 30C 4500's would probably fit because it's narrower than the opening. My guess is there probably is a 5S 5000 pack that fits the bill.

I don't know about other packs but a Hyperion 4s 5500 35c pack will fit in the boat sitting on top of the battery tray that is 5/16'' above the tub floor.

Yeah the Turnigy 4s 5000 40c packs are a tight fit. The 4s 4000 40c are a much better fit with around 40 seconds less run time on my setup.

Brushless55 if you plan on running 5s you cannot put a sub floor in. I have mine like Doug's 5/16" from the floor with 1/8" baseboard and 5s 5000 20 does not clear the hatch.

These boat are fun. I have been tweaking a 1450 and it seems faster than my h7 with a little less amp draw. Still not 100% but getting there.

I got a chance to do some prop testing today. First a few disclaimers. I am no expert as this is my first rigger. Opinons and observations are soley my own so take it for what it's worth. I'm using a Garmin 201 GPS. Who knows how how accurate GPS readings are on the the smaller, non WASS GPS's. My numbers were somewhat disappointing, but I am using a used UL1 motor that I suspect was abused before I purchased it. If there is one thing I have learned in this hobby, it's that every time I save a buck, I end up spending more.

My set up is the JAE FE, UL1 motor and controller with a Jim Mamaril strut which is a non-adjustable neutral strut. Turn fin is a David Preusse unit. Battery is the Turnigy 4S 40C 5000.

First prop I put on was a Mark Sholund H7 with 3.75" of cup. My boat was recently repaired for minor damage it sustained at out last district race. I took a few laps to make sure she still handled well. She felt nice and solid in the turns. I then let my Club VP take the boat for a few laps to get his opinion on how it handled (also gotta let the nitro guys taste what their missing). He said it felt great. I GPSed the run and came up with 52 mph. I then switched to a Andy Brown H7 with 3.6" of cup. It also had a bit more detounging the Marks props. The boat seemed peppier and everyone said "yeah, thats much faster". The boat still handeled well but felt a little looser than the previous prop. I also had to dial in some left trim because she was noticably walking to the right. I pulled the lid off the GPS and to my surprise, she was a bit slower at 50 mph. Interesting result. My last prop was a Sholund 1450 with 3.2" of cup. Handling was the same as the Andy Brown H7 and just a bit slower at 49.5 mph.

So some interesting results. One thing I learned is looks can be deceiving. Every one thougt the Andy Brown prop looked faster, but assuming the GPS readings were accurate, the prop was not. Funny thing, A club member was commenting today how some accomplished B-hydro racers though i was pushing 60 at the last race. Estimated speeds dont mean squat. I'm going to swap out motors to the new UL1 I have and see if I can pick up any more speed.

Feel free to comment. Thanks for watching.

Good to read that your repairs worked out! Interesting reads on the props and speeds between them...good job! I bet that new motor will give you some different reads. Drop it in and see what happens...

I'm going bear watching in the Catskills! Let me know if you test out the new UL-1 motor!
