    Syncron setup advice

    Hi,
I'm planning on building out a syncron hull, looking for advice on the setup.

Purpose: Recreational boating (not racing... yet...). Priority is runtime over speed, although I'd like to get into the 40's with at least 7min runtime if that's possible.

    Hardware: standard with the hull

    Batteries: Lipos

    Looking for advice on:

-Motor? I'm assuming the 540 8XL or 9XL would fit well-- not sure what speed/runtime difference to expect between these motors. Or is there a different motor I should consider? Any particular cooling jacket jump out as being a nifty solution vs. the rest?

    -ESC?

    -Lipo setup?

-Prop? (I have an extra X440/3, how would that work out?)

-Servo? (planning to use Spektrum DX3S radio)

-Anything else I need that I might be missing? This will be my first build (experience up to this point is tinkering with my fastech...).

    Thanks,

    -Chief

    Hi Chief,

You wont be dissapointed with the Syncron, its a fantastic hull.

As for the setup, assuming you want to run 4s the 9Xl would make for a very nice setup.

It would be possible to also run a Hydra 120, however this may be pushing it depending on final setup. If price is not too much of a worry I would definately go with a 150 + amp controller (Hydra 240)

Although I would not recommend starting of with it initially, your x440/3 will be suitable for this setup. Should start off with something in the 42 mm range for initial runs.

These lipos are definately worth taking a look @, these are the new Thunder Power 45c cells http://fastelectrics.com/batteriestp.asp

Andrew is also doing a great price on his older TP 30c cells which is what I'm running in all my boats at the moment.

Any high torque servo such as a Hitec HS645Mg will do the job

Do you have the hull yet ? any pics ?

I'm assuming the tradeoff between 8XL and 9XL is speed vs. runtime- is that right? Any ballpark on what that tradeoff is assuming a 4S setup? (ie, 9XL ~5mph slower, but 5min more runtime, or something like that?)

I have not ordered the hull yet, so no pics. I'll update when I do.

I am going to go ahead and say no, there really are too many other variables involved. I only recommended the 9Xl as I have run that motor in numerous boats before and it always seems to work well for me.
