Does that fan have anything on the other side? It lookslike it's right up against the CF plate. If so, it'll only heat the boat up more.

      Thanks Scott,

I tryed a small piece of plastic angle glued on the back 2 section of the chime on my Simrad cat and it help it go around corners a little faster , It seamed to stop the slide out affect , Thats until it fell off, glue wouldn't hold it . Didn't show any signs of rolling in the turns.
So that is why i've decided to do the full chime on the M12 cat fixed solid with car bog and painted.
Should turn out real nice , Gives the side of the boat a new look also.

      J.M. ,

The picture is deceiving the fan is about 1" away from the bulk head.
The M12 cut into the carbon plate allows the air to travel around the bulkhead with the fan in it. Should work ok.

          Update

          A little more progress.

I've glassed in the motor mount .

I checked it into the carbon floor for a real good hold with some clear drying epoxy.

Then i glass it to the tunnels floor with some very light glass fiber and resin.

I'll end up sanding it all smooth then it will get a 2 pak clear coat over the tunnels floor and the motor mount.

Should come out real flat and shinny.

Another pic of the fan setup for the esc.

My strut is in the mail.

Soon as i get it i can finish the back of the cat.

The strut is in the mail on Monday. If you want it extra fast then let me know and we can work out postage.

I hope this strut is as nice as the rest.....it is big but should fit well. Wish you would get away from those monster bearings and shafts and then we would have more choices! I am also sending the brackets along even though you said you did not need them...you might find that you do.

            Your work is art, man!

Oh that is right...it is day over there when night here. I am headed to bed...1:30 a.m.!

Brackets are in there as well. Might need them for another piece of art you do later.

It turned out nice. Blade is a bit wider but should be fine...if not dremmel it to how you like.

                    Esc update

                    OK,

I've finally finished all the solder joins on the esc.

I use liquid electrical tape(red, black) to cover the exposed wires.

                    Came out real neat.

Couple of pics of the esc motor setup in the cat.

Then 7v fan will do a good job of keeping a steady air flow over the esc when running.
Should keep it a little cooler.

I'm contemplating putting a small fan behind the motor as well.
Just haven't got that far yet.

                    8mm shaft , strong!!!

Paint this week. Under coat anyway!!

I'm a happy man i get my strut soon.
                    Thanks Jeff.

Very nice job, good idea to place the esc forward, is it going to be accessible afterwards? how will you close that deck area?

                        Thanks DISAR,

I'm planning on holding the esc down with some velcro straps glue to the tunnel floor.
And leaving the hole area under the front of the deck open.

Makes for lots of room for the esc and the cooling fan to do its job.

I will be able to get to the esc under the decks roof.

The top deck will be fiberglassed back in place very soon.

Just have to make up the tie downs for the esc to sit in.

Then i will finish the glassing on the front deck.

                          Update

                          The motor mount is finished.

Glassed in to the carbon floor.

I've also finished the control arm setup for the tunnel wing.

Final coat of resin over the main carbon floor of the cat.

                          Very shinny.

                          Now to under coat !!!

                            Update water cooling

I have been working on the water cooling for the cat.

I'm using thin walled aluminum tube to run the water to the esc and the motor.

There are 2 water inlets on the cat , i have set they up so that the motor has 1 and the esc has 1.

Then they both exit the cat at the back of the spoonsons.
