    black jack build

hi guys, i have been asking questions in the black jack group but i think i need more help...i bought a black jack 26" brushless a while back, and since i bought it i have been trying to get a new motor and esc set up that works...the poor boat has been on fire 3 times and has overheater even more motors..i bought a NUE 1512 1.5y (33000kv) motor and have run a CC hv120 and an ETTI 150 both have caught fire and smoked to death..i have also ran with smaller feigao motors but they all over heated....so i would like to run the NUE1512 motor i have with a 4s lipo and a x640 prop, but i need to know what esc to use...without spending for it and watching it go down in smoke....please help if you can..any ideals will be apperciated.

Well, My first suggestion before you spend your hard earned cash, is to figure out why you are blowing ESC's and heating motors. So I'm going to ask a few obvious questions:

1.) Does your cooling system have good flow with no restrictions?
2.) Does your drive system rotate freely? Is it properly lubed?
3.) Do you have a gap between the drive dog and the strut?
4.) Are you running a cooling jacket on your motors?
5.) Are you using the stock hardware?
6.) Do you have pics of your drive setup and the hardware, specifically where we can see the strut depth and angle and the insides?
7.) What batteries are you using?

I think others will chime in with a few more questions. But with the above, we can start to assist you in finding and possibly fixing the problem.

First off a 3300 Kv motor is way too hot for 4s especially running that prop.

Good catch. I didn't see that. I agree, that motor is too high a KV for 4s.

Most of the important questions have been asked and it has been pointed out that the 3300kv can is a bit hot for a 640 prop. I would give that a whirl in a rigger
When specing a system it is important to see if other people have had success with a similar setup.
Then set yours up and run it for very short runs and bring it in for a health check, water ingress and components temps.
Once you get a solid minute with no alarming temps and water ingress to the hull then you can consider tuning the hull up for speed and or up proping.

These are the very basics that I learnt and will be told by many FE boaters. I learnt by smoking stuff and got very dispondant and nearly threw in the towel on FE.

Start conservativly and work your way up one step at a time. 18 months ago I though 30mph was wild. I now have 2 riggers clear of 60

I'll help you if I can.

Send me that motor and I'll let you know just what it can do.
          See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Not sure, but it looks like NAMBA fast electrics is becoming a "spec" sanction LoL..
I hope no one proposes this stuff to be all sanctioned classes.

Next week another "kit-boat" will come out and everyone will rage over its motor and try to propose it LoL..

I think the only NAMBA class that should permanently adopt those motors is LSH and all approved motors should be of the same length and wind otherwise there's nothing "spec" about it.

              The gold motor is plenty.

the origonal was ok, but after reading how fast you can go i wanted in...i went on CC wedsite and they said to use a 1512 1.d which i belive is a smaller wind, so i got the bigger one thinking bigger is faster, and now i cant get it to go without caughting fire...do you think the 3300kv motor will work if i run a smaller prop, or should i pony up the money for another motor?? i hate to buy another NUE motor but i think they are the best choice, i have bought 2 feigao 540xl (1500kv & 2200kv) both overheated, and i have never had a problem with the NUE motor...would the set up be ok if i ran less battery?? i will get some pics up so you can see it to make sure it looks right

Run that motor on 3s and there will be no fire.
