40" prather deep v inboard conversion

Hi just wanted to say hello to everyone i hear this is the place for brushless boat build, i recently took a RTR prather deep v 40" boat on trade and would like to convert it. i have posted some pics, the hull seems in great shape, and am also wondering what the nitro engines worth the one in it is a os .46 marine inboard racing engine, like new only ran a few times has mill work done as well. the guy said it did close to 60 with his engine, at least thats what he said, i also have the original motor which is a kb 7.5 never has been started with tuned pipe for that as well here are some pics and im wondering how big of a setup is needed to make this thing worth building basically im asking for as much speed as the hull can realistically handle. i have a medusa 36-80-2000kv motor but am sure it is too small for this boat to get any real speed, im thinking 60-70 is reasonable to ask of a boat this size.

IMHO, the engines you have are pretty dated and not worth much. Most serious boaters are running CMB engines, etc. You could try ebay but I wouldn't expect to get much. Is the original K&B 7.5 in the original box with instructions, etc? there are collectors on ebay that might be interested in that.

Nothing wrong with the Prather 40 hull but expecting 60-70-mph is pretty ambitious. I doubt SERIOUSLY that the previous owner got that kind of speed with the O.S. engine. More like 40-45mph I would guess.

To get the speeds you want, you would need to set it up with a NEU 1527 and Castle 240HV running on at least 6S. Expensive setup.

thats along the lines of the motor i was thinking i already have 6s 30 5000mah packs, perhaps 2 in parallel to handle the amp draw and keep temps down. does anyone else have a similar build thread i can read up on?

Let us know how it works out. There are some really nice mounts made by Williams that will bolt right to your rails and hold the 1527. You can also get a plate that goes above the motor to mount the ESC on. Makes a nice setup. It looks like Steven has discontinued them but I'm pretty sure they're still available out there. There is also a guy on these forums named Peter Zicha (sp?) that makes outrageously beautiful mounts. They are well worth what he gets for them.

I've heard good things about the Medusa but I don't think it will measure up to the NEU.

A Delta Force 33 would be perfect for your Medusa motor.
