    14.8v SAW rigger

This is a start to the Carbon Fiber SAW Rigger build, second in the series.
This boat was started 2/27/08 it has been on my web site in the bulletin board all that time health and other problems stopped me from completing this boat sooner. Paddy has been the best customer ever with all his patience.
    Start is the sponsons.

Got a little more work done today and I missed this picture yesterday

Finished the join on the tub today

Well I am back at it again I have three riggers I am woring on a 37 inch 10S rocket, a 27 inch .18 nitro ARTR and this CF dream machine. I did a little milling yesterday.

A little time was put in to planning of the motor mount this will help hold the motor solid. Some times late friday thinking is best after all the calls are done and wife is on a back packing trip with the Scouts.

Flex shaft built and installed this week.

several hours of custom machining and we have a 7075 rudder with water pick up.. Flat blade to come next.

          side view

Installed the servo mounting. Now I need to build the flat blade rudder, then I am on to paint. I hope to paint this hull and my P Sport Hydro before I leave for the nats on next tuesday.

Back to working on this boat. I got the sponsons set and plugged the booms this morning. I sanded the end caps flush with the sponson side. So starts the sanding for paint and the light filling, to make smooth and square, sharp edges.

              First coat of paint.

Getting ready to do the graphics. Well actually I have done a little prep work on the Tazz lion. I have one sponson done ready for over lay masking.

The booth is a little more crowded.

The build got back on track for the LA SAW's. I did learn a few things with the other builds amd have added more bracing in the form of two aluminum plates behind the front btace extentions. (just a little thing not a big deal) On to the pictures.

Back home now, I ran the boat in LA the V937 was about 45MPH then I ran a V942 4S 1P. it was a little faster 49MPH second run. The boat turns great rides superb! I put in a V947 but may cells were tired from the four days of running and I was only running 1P it needs 2P and good batteries I allso think it needs some serious prop work like with some big pitch props back cut and thinned and hardned. and this motor will pump it out. I had a 1521 1y ON 8s that will push it in to the 80ties but that is another way. Any way the boat works great and just needs prop wpork and a good ESC.
Oh it allso needs another coat of clear before it goes away.

Randy your comments are noted. I have a 1521 1D and a 1521 1.5D I can use in this boat too. The 1521 1D has given me 70mph on 4s 1p in my Xzess 3 hull and prop work and setup should take that boat to higher speeds. I have a YGE Navy 200 esc that I will use. I also have 1 new Thunder Power 4s 45C here and will order another one so I can run 2p. My prop man knows his oats so after some testing, tuning and prop work I think I can achieve my goal.
I noticed on the boat you sent to John (apples1) that the hatch tape pulled quite a lot of paint off. I know it is difficult to make anything stick to CF well. I was wondering if there is a way that hatch tape can be removed without taking the paint with it. The paint job on this boat is quite special to me and I would rather leave the boat sitting on the shelf and not use it than have the hatch tape take the paint off.
Congratulations on your success at the LA SAW event.

I put a layer of tape down on the deck and cut it on the seam and left it there. It still pulls up a little espically the gold tape but if you are careful you can pull the second layer of tape off the first with out harming the paint I did. but you have to go slow. The new paint jobs with the Laquer base that I do now do stick. I could strip the paint and re do it it is up to you.
