Slims BJ26 Build Questions.

Okay, iv asked this in the BJ26 section but i have yet to get any help, so maybe ill have better luck here.

I crashed my BJ26 a wile ago and decied to make it my own "custom" boat project. I have a few question tho before i can move on with my project.

1) Where should all the weight be in the boat? Near the back, middle, or front? (ie: Batterys, Servo, ESC,)

2) What kind of paint should i used to paint the hull?

As i move ahead i know im going to have more questions! Thanks in advance.

Did you scan arround posts under Black Jack? There is many posts with pictures that are helpfull to get an idea where things have to be installed. When it comes to paint I am sure you find this under boat building once you dig in it a little.

Well iv seen a ton of pictures of peoples set ups and still havent got a solid answer on where the weight should be. Eveyones "custom" boat is all there own right.

As for the paint I have found my answer "kinda" I notice that mose people are useing "Plastic Paints" but im wondering if there is something better ie: Auto paint, enamal paint, ect ect.

Original layout of BJ interior is how the weight should be placed. Everything other than that is moding, changing things arround to get certain resoults the way you like it so by my opinion is hard to give you solid answer on the spot. That is why one of the things you can do is follow what other people did and see if you like it.

Try starting with the cg around 30 percent. Rip the stock batt trays so that you have the option to move the packs for and back to adjust cg as needed.

For paint: most paints are ok, just do not mix: enamels go only with enamels, acrylic with acrylic...

The reason there is no single answer on COG is that there are many variables. Stock set up tried to average out all the variables and make the best "all around" set up for as many types of boaters possible; the main reason I spend so much time redoing any RTRs I get. I agree with rumdog, I always remove all crap from the hull that is not in the right place according to me. Any internal framework that impedes my placement of the batteries goes. I like to run 4S2P so that is not what the manufacturers designed the battery box position on, so I remove it. I place two marks on my hull, 33% and 25%, then keep COG between those marks. I always place the gear in such a way I can reach the entire range of COG with adjusting battery placements (25-33%); otherwise you may not have the flexibility you may need.

variables include (but are not limited to)
strut depth, angle and distance from the transom
prop diameter and pitch
water conditions
total weight (4S1P vs 4S2P)
motive, sport vs race
speeds desired: SAW, best handling, scale
**tunnel flap angle** something that is optional and maybe only for bigger cats (opinions anyone?)

Please add to list, I would like to see if we can get it complete.

As for paints, great advice - don't mix, even brands and especially between primer and top coat. I like Krylon, but if you don't find the color you need, might need to go with automotive paints. Also, go easy, I have been burned by my impatience to get the final coat on and ended up with wrinkles and a bunch of dark words.
